New Stick from COMBAT

Recommended Posts

I'd give it a game or two before making the call on Brown not liking the stick. It could just be that he had run out and a new batch is forthcoming.

He was using a Bauer stick tonight.

Does anyone know which twig Brown was using last night? Couldn't quite tell from the highlights.

Never mind, saw a photo of him using a Bauer stick.

Since we're on the topic of Combat here, how do their flex ratings feel compared to industry standards?

I had the opportunity to do the LTR reviews for the Combat (well, Ballistik). I think they are just a touch whippier than Easton (really Easton is the only other one I've used much, apart from a pro-stock Dolo).

I got to review the 45 caliber in the 100 flex and the following year model again 45 caliber) in the 80 flex.

I currently use the 50 caliber (picked up 2 of these sticks).

Not to blow smoke, and I will preface this by saying I am certainly not a high end player, but I love Combat. After getting to do the Tests, I was hooked. There are now 3 in my bag, and 1 spare still in plastic just waiting for a break. I use the 50 caliber, MC curve, 80 flex. For the novice/intermediate player it's really a fantastic stick. It may also be a fantastic high end player stick, but I'm not high end

EDIT: Useless trivia... The first game with a new Ballistik stick (And I've now had 3 first games with 3 different ballistik sticks) I've scored.

I've been pleasantly surprised by the performance of my Combat 52, and it makes me interested in trying the PURE. The durability leaves something to be desired, I broke my first of two the other night right down the middle of the blade, thirty some days after buying it. I am hoping for better durability out of my second, and if it eases my worries over their durability, the PURE will be the next on my list.

For those interested in shaft shape...I have been using the 52 Cal over the past 5 years or so. The older black and white version has round corners and a smaller diameter shaft. The newer 52 cal (red, white, black) has less rounded corners and a thicker shaft....enough so to make me stop using it.

The old black/white/silver ones felt great, but they progressed to other shapes. However, they now make the 52 Cal S (squared) and the 52 Cal R (rounded). Have you tried out the R yet?

I'm not sure what the construction is like on the top end sticks, I've found the 45 and 50 to be tanks (durability wise, not weight wise). Hopefully it was just a dodgy stick and the next one is better. I will be curious to see though, because the 52 cal will likely be my next twig, unless they have consistent durability issues
