Opening cuff up on gloves

Recommended Posts

I have a pair of x60 gloves (non pro) and I want to open the cuff a little more because only the flap that says bauer is loose. I downloaded a picture and theres I think 2 stitches (where I drew the yellow lines) and was wondering if it's safe to take em out. I don't have hockey til next week so if I don't have an answer by then I can ask the guys at the hockey shop there.

Nothing wrong with doing that. Some pros (Ovi included) have been known to cut that entire flap off. May be a bit of a tradeoff of protection with more of your inner wrist exposed.

Are they pros? I know the pros definitely have a bigger opening. And do yours open just where the indented bauer flap is? or are both flaps loose.

I don't really like the free flex cuff because there still a little feel of resistance on it from the lycra. I knew I'd regret not getting the x60 pros :(

The rubber tips on half of the fingers peeled off already, used the gloves about a total of 10 times. And yeah, the palm isn't great, but it will do. Just waiting for the day the palms wear out now so I can repalm them :)

Super Glue?

Did you cut the piece off the gloves yet?

I would try clear Shoe Goo to reattach rubber pad. Use a very small amount, clamp it down with a spring clamp and let it set for 24 hours. Take care to wipe any excess Shoe Goo that squeezes out onto the palm using your finger or a damp cloth before it dries.

God damn those palms have so much useless junk on them. X:60 pros are likely one of my next expensive purchases, love the fit in store, but the standard X:60s are just so laden down with junk. I really don't why companies try these gimmicks (rubber pads on palms, windows on EQ50 blades, etc.), but I guess there must be a market for such things?

I agree, but there is a market. A lot of things that start off as gimmicks ended up as common practice in todays equipment. I remember thinking that aluminum shafts were a gimmick....

it actually wasnt bad. i've had them for almost 2 full seasons before this went bad. for durability it was decent, for actual performance, probably not the greatest. thanks all for the tips

oh and i was going for the x60 pros but they didnt have my size, so they offered me the normal x60s for $20 off so i was like sure and ill just repalm em when they go to crap
