Switching to Step Steel

Recommended Posts

I made the decision to switch to the Step steel blades in my X60 Vapors and as you probably know, this is a pretty beefy piece of steel.

Do you all grind it down a bit to "closer to" the LS2 size, or leave it as is? I'm going to have them stick to an 11' profile since I need more balance than anything but was thinking of having a little ground down to reduce the bulk. Anyone do this or is it just ludicris?

It's pretty funny that a rapper made it so people misspell a word...

That all being said, no - having more blade is a benefit. If you wanted the same height as LS2, you should've gotten LS2.

I agree with JR. It will last longer too. I've been using Step for a while now and I've always left mine full height. You may want to shave the toe a bit though.

...and in the same discussion. I had to "enlarge" the access hole on my skate bottom to be able to access the nut. There was already a hole but even with the offset on the bauer wrench, there was no way. Making that hole more oblong doesn't affect the overall boot stiffness or anything does it? I sure wouldn't think so.

That's typical, why they can't drill hole in correct location is a mystery. Just stick a big drill bit in the hole and go around and around enlarging it, it wont hurt structure of sloe at all. BTW, the new LS3 steel is larger like the STEP, not as good steel but taller.
