Finally broke my S17 need advice...

Recommended Posts

So my first composite stick Easton S17 RH Zetterberg 85 flex finally broke.

I looked on the web and they are no longer available.

The s19 is a bit pricey for me (I'd like to pay no more than 140)

Right now I play with my SE16 RH Zetterberg 85 flex but do not like where Easton is going with their EQ50 line (waay to gimmicky with those weights)

So I'm thinking to try a Bauer stick...

What is the IDENTICAL curve to the Easton Zetterberg that bauer Sells?

Or does anyone know where to get the NON Grip version of the following so I could stock up...

Easton S17 RH Zetterberg 85 flex

Easton SE16 RH Zetterberg 85 flex

Thanks in advance guys.

If you like the elliptical taper I'm sure you can find a prostock s19 either on ebay, a local shop or PSHG for 140.

From what I've seen, most of the pro-stock S19 don't have the elliptical taper.

to the OP, I'd hang on to your money for now. New lines are coming out soon and you can usually catch the current stuff on sale when that happens.

If you're looking to try a low kick stick from a new (non-Easton) brand, with a curve as similar as possible to the Zetterberg, for no more than $140, have you considered the Warrior Dolo DD? Hockey monkey has the 2009 (Dragon) ones on sale for $130 right now, with 85 flex lie 4 Savards in both lefties and righties. Never used this stick myself, but it seems to get rave reviews on these boards (lots of complaints about blade durability on the new Dolos, but people seem to be more positive about the blade durability on the 2009s).

I believe a lie 4 Savard is very close to Easton's Zetterberg. The lie 4 might look weird because the Zetterberg is a lie 5, but Warrior measures lie from closer to the heel whole Easton measures it mid blade so they're not too convertible, I think a lie 4 Savard is closer to a Zetterberg than a lie 5 Savard.

If you're set on Bauer, you won't find many on sale at the moment, but the 2 sticks they have closest to your price range are the X50 and one80. I've heard the X50 is basically a fused 2-piece X60 (not sure if that's true), never used it myself but it goes for around $150 and is a low kick stick. I borrowed a friend's one80 once and actually quite liked it, a bit heavier than a top of the line stick, but I liked the flex/feel. Goes for around $120, but it's a mid kick, so it might not be your style coming from an S17/SE16.

What was said above. Sticks have become too pricey. Best to get last year's stuff on sale. The Stealth RS is coming soon, so you migh want to wait for the S19 to go on clearance. Great stick.

However, the EQ50 is pretty much the new SE16. If I remember correctly, the SE16 has weights in the blade. Just no "adjustable" plug or window.

That said, I've never used either, so I can't tell you how they perform in comparison.

x50 is a really nice stick for the money. If the monkey has a 20% weekend sale you could get one for $135 shipped or even a 15% of sale would only be around $143

New Stealth wont be till Fall 2011, 7 months, that'd be a long wait.

you can find alot of them are basically the same as retail. I've seen hundreds of dolos and a good amount of s19's that are basically the retail model.

I can't believe it took you that long to break your S17. I have 2 older Stealth Synergy CNTs that just won't break as backups. I went through 3 S17s in 6 months, all of them broke at the hosel. My S19 has been solid for just shy of a year.

Finding an 85 flex in pro stock is pretty tough. The players these days are just so big and built solid. That's what I use and they don't pop up on ebay that often in the make, curve and lie you are looking for.

My s17 lasted a whole season before the blade even went soft haha

85 in eastons is a bit harder to find than other brands IMO
