X60 skate stiffness/durability retail

Recommended Posts

Can anyone comment how the durability/stifness has held up on the X60? I bought a pair of x40's when they came out and those creased in a very short amount of time so off to play it again they went. Im 6'0 195lbs BTW

With these x60's being on closeout I might pick up a pair, not a bad deal. I'm in one95's now and seems like they took a while to break in skating 2-3 times a week for an HR. They are to small on me so I'm either going to get the 60's or some one100's in a .5 size larger. I prefer a stiff boot, I tried on the x60s at the LHS and laced them as if I was skating and they seemed extremely comfy with good heel lock. I was easily able to flex the boot leaning forward, I know they are designed to have some forward flex but I just want to make sure that a year from now they do not have creases at the 3rd eyelit from the top...

Anyone who can chime in with similiar experiences for feedback, thanks.

I have had a pair of x60s for 2 full seasons (summer & winter-2 full time teams) and they have held up great. I'm 5'10 & 290. I had a pr of RBK 8ks and blew them out in a year. I am looking to pick up another pr as the prices have come down just to have back up's.

They've been really good for me. My last 3 pairs before these have been custom (extra stiff). I was about to order another pair of customs when I won the x60s in a drawing when they were released. The fit was satisfactory so I tried them and they've held up for 2 seasons. 6'3" 255lbs.

On a somewhat related note...how has the liner of the X:60 held up? Have there been abrasion issues or holes that develop for people?

Personally I still don't get how people could possibly fit into BOTH Supremes & Vapors - the lasts are so different, especially the volume?!

It usually means that neither fits right

I have spent quite a bit of time reading on this forum about how to fit skates and there is so much helpful info.

Chadd, maybe with this comment about skates not fitting you can help me a bit futher.

Pencil test

Toes brushing end cap /

Heel locked when walking/rocking back and forth

Forefoot fit

Toe cap

Arch lining up

Pressure points

Overall feeling with foot in the skate

Help me out here...

Am I missing the (how to fit in a skate thread)?

It would be nice to meet with a bauer rep, him fit me and say, you would be best in this line or there is just not a bauer skate for you my friend, no supreme, no flexlite, no vapor, pick something else or go custom.

If your foot really fits well in the Supreme, the Vapors will generally lack volume and tear up your forefoot. You can tell there's a depth difference just by sticking your hand in.

I find this interesting that you'd say that. I wore Bauer's One70s the last two years and I thought it fit my narrow foot really well. I tried on the X:30 and X:40, but couldn't seem to get it tight enough, needless to say it wasn't a good fit. I ended up trying on the X:60s and it's probably the best fitting skate I've worn to date and I haven't baked them yet. Thoughts?

Both my left and right skates, both sides inside the skate where the red material meets the other have been worn through pretty good. I've had the 60's for about 8-10 months, and I'm skating/playing about 5/6 times a week most weeks. There haven't been any other issues, the boots have held up well, aside from a eyelet here and there. And I really didn't notice skating wise the worn spots on the linear so it really hasn't effect performance.
