Bauer X:60 - Bump developing 1 inch above bottom of fibula

Recommended Posts

On the outside of my foot, 1 inch above the bottom of the fibula on the outside of my ankle, a bump is developing. Wondering if this is something to do with fit (I have no other problems with the fitting of the skates). I generally go sockless and did use to get abrasion there from the skates. However, I would think that it would callus or scab instead of slowly develop a bump. There is no longer an abrasion or a scab. Just a bump. Pressure causes slight discomfort, nothing I can't live with.

I'm in X:60s, and other than that one problem on the outside of the left foot, everything else is great.

Any comments or help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

same issue with my one95s bumps on both legs, actually painful to skate now. I ordered some foam to try the totalone/apx thing around the collar and see if it helps or else i might try and get new skates which i don't want to.

Something similar happened to me except it's on the front of my right leg. I have Easton s17's and I think I got it from lace bite. It bothered me the first couple times I skated on them but they don't bother me anymore. I'm still gonna go to the doctor to have it checked out soon though. Hopefully it's not a big deal. :fingers crossed:

Sounds like Haglunds Deformity...

Haglunds Deformity is a bump on/around the heal, so it can't be that. If you post a picture I might be able to help you out, but can't make a full diagnosis without seeing you, but I can try my best!

Best help you will get is from a doctor, they can properly diagnose you and tell you with greater accuracy and authenticity how to remedy and prevent the issue.

Well I am currently an ER doctor, but your 100% right. A doctor who is able to see the problem in person is definatly better than one online. Especially with bumps, where it's best to be able to touch and feel it.

Thanks guys, really appreciate the help. Sorry for feet pictures, lol. As I think I mentioned before, it was a simple skin abrasion in January/February. I wore my skates barefoot at the time and the roughness of the X60 liner caused it, I believe. Basically, the top layer of skin rubbed off as it would on a scrapped knuckle or something. Eventually I gave it a couple weeks break, it healed, put on some thin socks and gradually the bump seem to cause a bit of discomfort even though the skin reformed. It was pretty painful around March/April. The pain has eased recently and it causes a bit of discomfort, but nothing like it did in April, where on a weekend tournament, I was literally avoiding pressure on my left skate because of it.

Once again, thanks for the help guys!

Here is mine it is started on my right ankle but since has improved and my left is much worst, pretty tender if i wear mid/hi cut bball shoes it hurts just rubbing against the padded collar on the shoe. But i can sort of rub down on it and it won't be bad until i hit a nerve.

Is this from rubbing at the top of the skate ? I had rubbing at the top and it made a dark mark on my leg. I got an ankle support sleeve thing and cut it down to like an inch to provide more padding for that part.

nope proper size, these skates actually are the best fitting for me it only started happening a year after i bought the skates, been wearing graf custom insoles the whole time.

I think it's form the leading edge however i should of taken a photo but there is a small indent in the foam right around where the "one95" logo is. Is this something that i can even take up with my LHS or Bauer or is it lose cause since the skates are year and half old now?

I get this really bad in my One95's as well. The solution: new laces and it clears up within a couple weeks. Mine get so bad they leave a nice scar. Seriously try some new laces. I think the top of the boot loosens a little and rubs it raw and then starts to form the bump which just progressively gets worse.

Sorry for reviving an old thread. I went to see a specialist along with my skates. He pointed out the problem was not the boot or my foot shape. The X60 tongue was fraying and the harder part of the guard was actually cutting my foot when tied tight. An easy fix was to get some classic felt tongues for a swap.

One $8 bunga gel pad that figureskaters use, cut in half, one for each foot, problemed solved for me. Basicly what jr suggested.

No need to apologize, it's your thread. Glad to see that you resolved your issue, and glad to see that you posted so.
