Equipment sale discussion

Recommended Posts

Sharks sale was pretty weak today, but made it out with an equip bag, Mayer franchises that were in great shape, some socks and blades. Sticks were freaking expensive, but saw some cool easton RS's around. Heatleys were repaints but White's were nice. Also, saw some nice pavelski pants in good shape. Was a little bummed that there weren't a lot of 87 flex lefty from Bauer or Easton. But was definitely an experience...a little crazy though.

How did you find Mayer's franchises ?

They were on the signed gear table. I was eyeing then also. But once I got done getting my sticks they were gone. How much did you get them for? The Wallin franchises were $100 but weren't in that good of shape.

Has anyone been to a new york islanders sale? theres the draft party coming up and it says theres an equipment sale so im going to go...this is my first sale and im planning on getting alot of equipment... any suggestions on what to do to maximize my chances of getting good deals and equipment before its all out???

(^QUOTED FROM PRO EQUIPMENT SALES TIME AND DATE ONLY THREAD^)

As per the Islanders pro shop there won't be any pro stock equipment being sold at the draft party, that will be sold out of the pro shop year round. They said there will be game used jerseys for sale and possibly a minimal amount of sticks there on the 24th.

How did you get into the sale before it starts? Tell me your secrets!!! :)

Ill be there tomorrow also...

It started on Wednesday, for Sharks employees, local firefighters (me),cops, and suite owners/corporate partners.

They don't let the "unwashed" in until Thursday.

My Dad worked for Santa Clara County, I should try and get in next year.

My Dad worked for Santa Clara County, I should try and get in next year.

It's only firefighters and cops who play hockey there on a regular basis, and I had to show my fire department picture I.D. to get in. We weren't allowed to bring in our kids or guests.

Did you get to see Setoguchi's, Pavelski's, Mitchell's, or Wellwood's curves? If so, what did they look like?

I was only looking for RH 77 flex sticks, and only found one. If it wasn't that, I didn't bother with it.

Anyone know what kind of selection of LH blades they have at the Sharks sale? I was told last year Marleau and Thornton blades were something like 3 for $12 on the last day. Anything like that this time?

Was the Seto stick signed? I didn't see any rightys... Maybe you fools took them all!

Nope, unsigned. Gave it a few minutes of ice time tonight, but not used to the toe curve. Threw my first wrister about head high at the goalie. It caught both of us off-guard.

Yep, it was a Jed Ortmeyer. There was only one on Wednesday.

Were you able to find anything good?

I got two Ferreiro sticks, one a new CCM CL and the other a one95. Also got a Nichol s19, but I wish I had grabbed a White RS. The practice jerseys were a decent deal, I got a new white one for $75.

You mean seto's repainted se16

makes me wonder why the sharks players are in love with the se16... seto, vlasic, boyle, pavs (i think) etc.. and all of those EQ50s were repaints. saw a lot of kids out with em today at gretzky, pretty funny they think they're legit sticks w/out the weights

Sharks definitely need to enact a limit, guys from Wednesday cleaned it out before the STH even got there.

The crowd on Wednesday is only a fraction of what it is on the other days, probably 25 people or so were in there at the peak, compared to 100+ on the STH day.

Yeah, I agree. But the guy who runs the sale said people on Wednesday were walking out with 5 pairs of gloves, couple pairs of pants, couple helmets etc.

I saw the STH sale and there were 3 unsigned gloves lefts and no helmets with logos.

I don't blame the people, people are alwus gonna be greedy and stuff, but the ducks are smart and give everyone a 4 item limit, which is more than enough.

Yes, but those people bought like 3 pairs of gloves each. ALL gloves were gone. I was 4th in line and there were only 5 pairs of signed gloves for like $100 each in pretty crappy condition.

If that small of a crowed cleaned out the place, it only further fuels the need for limits.

Just like those dudes that were first in line on Thursday that bought carts full of jerseys and received help from employees getting the stuff to their cars. The stuff WILL sell, let more people have the chance.

Especially as the re-sale market demand continues to grow, these sales will need to acknowledge the fact that people are buying to make a profit. Limits help curtail these types from cleaning these sales out.

The people that walk out of the sale with armloads of gear are the ones that go on STH day. I know because I go every year, and have been there on all of the different days. The people that go on Wednesday are the small amount of guys that I play hockey with. These cheap bastards wouldn't buy more than one stick at a time, and $75 is probably asking too much. I'm probably the only gear whore in the group.
