Help with New Protective

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to find some new protective gear ( shoulders and shins) that will make me look thicker than i am. Willing to buy top of the line. I'm 6'2 160 and i have flamingo legs. Right now i have the one95 gear and it was good in the beginning but since i clear tape my shins so theyre tight, they broke down and look skinny again. Please help! Thanks

Any RBK shins have the look you are going for. As for shoulders, just look for the biggest shoulder caps you can find. Most companies are trying to make their stuff smaller, so you might have to look for some older shoulders.

Are you trying to look more intimidating? haha but I agree with TeamHonda, Reebok/Rbk makes wider shins, you could also check out the older CCM Tacks whcih are tanks. Look for older shoulders as mentioned. Where do you intend to shop if I may?

I'm 5-10 145, and don't really like the look of the lower-profile shins. It's just an mental thing in my case. With the shoulders, I personally think Ville Leino looks goofy as hell with his tiny shoulder pads lol.

Warrior projekt shoulder pads might do the trick.

I actually find those to be somewhat a low profile. Its probably just a mental thing, but they're made out of a foam thing and they feel great when they're on.

Hey another idea--lots of people use heat guns to make shin guard shells wider or narrower. I've done it several times in the past and it works well. Maybe try that on your One95s first. I feel your pain--I have chicken legs too and if you're self-conscious it does have a psychological effect on your game.

I'm a skinny guy too and I have these old Hespeler shoulders with these huge shoulder caps. Not really looking to switch out since they do the job well, but it DOES make my upper body disproportionate to my torso.

Guys, don't make me clean up this topic again.

As for the original question, most of the top end stuff looks and feels pretty bulky to me. Go find an old pair of Douglas shoulder pads or the TPS or Easton versions that came out around that time. Those things were bulky as hell.

This is what I used to do with mine, lots of people liked that look.
