I think the "vs" means he's comparing the two organizations, one as being well run from the top (Detroit) and one franchise not so much (Leafs).

I expected them to go with blue equipment as Chipman already said that besides the maple leaf in the logo there would be absolutely no red on the jersey. It wouldn't make sense to have red pants in this case. Still, if you ask me (you don't ahah, whatever) I would have preferred red pants
