total one versus warrior widow?

Recommended Posts

i am looking into a new twig, was sure the widow because of taper, an toe curves  , but started looking at the total one, i know its more durable, but for mostly snap shots an some one timers whats would you recommend? i hear the blade on some warrior are bad, is the widow better? i loved the feel on the eq 50 if that helps, i also have had my eq50 for bout 4-5 months of playing hockey 5 times a week, so i don't think i break them to easily  , so whats are y'alls thoughts?

Widow is outstanding for wristers and snappers, the blade has a very comfortable feel to me. I like it much, much more than the eq50, but I really wasn't a fan of the eq50 at all.

Chadd, how is the widow with one timers and slap shots?

I have been on the ice twice in the last two days but hadn't skated in a month prior to Monday night. My timing was off on my slappers with both the widow and my TPS sticks. Give me another week or so and I'll have some comments on that.

I prefer the Widow blade to the total one blade, you may or may not. The feel is softer, but still stiff, more like the one95 than the total one.

Sounds good! Your explanation on the feel of the blade may have just sold me even if the slappers suffer a little. Besides a sneaky fast snap shot from the point can be just as deadly!

this sounds very promissing!

sounds like quite a departure from the old warriors some of which had pretty ceramic & pingy feel to me anyways.

how's the durability?

Coming from a TPS R8 I found the Total One took some time getting used to on the puck feel side of things. Having now used it around a dozen times I've really taken a liking to it. I take a lot of slapshots (5 in the last game) and have found durability spot on at this stage. Wrist shots are what I've been most impressed with though. I have a hard slapshot regardless, so no major difference there, but my wristshots/snapshots have improved greatly and I definitely feel more pop when shooting.

The blade doesn't feel as supple as the pre-buyout R8's did, but once used to it I have no issue. I haven't used a Widow or One95 so can't compare, sorry.

I have them both. The total one is a better all around stick for passes, snappers and one timers. The Widow is a sick shooter. If I was going to a shooting contest I'd take the widow all day. The TO is more forgiving on passes and a pretty good shooter. The sole purpose of the widow is a wrist or a snap wrist. I do have a pro stock version and the blade is much higher sound than the TO. Its all graphite. For everyday skating The TO is my choice. For shooting around I use the widow.

The Widow blade is MUCH harder and less forgiving than the widow. The puck hits a TO and sticks. Its bounces off a Widow. Its not just me using it. Couple of junior players switched off between a 11k, TO, and my pro widow. It was unanimous that the TO had the best blade feel, catching a pass, etc. The widow was the sniper rifle. But that is all

I've used both and couldn't disagree more.

I think the one95 and total one are the easiest sticks for TPS guys to use. They act very similarly.

I agree Chadd. The more I use it the more I gel with it, and am now thankful I don't have to search the globe for pre-buyout R8's!

Imagine how I feel trying to track down XN10s.

Does your widow have a retail blade or are there options for this as well?

I may have to try out a retail widow so I know what I like before going the custom route,

The blade options are: Clear, Matte or Shark Grip. I went with matte.

But the blade construction itself is the same, aside from the finish?

Chadd, do you normally play the flex you went with on the Widow and if so how does it compare flex/feel wise to a total one?

Really hard to compare the two:

Total One: Awesome Slapshots and really a good mix for those looking for a traditional stick but with a pronounced kickpoint similar to an X:60 yet still distinct. Many will still prefer this stick design and not a complete loss if you break the blade.

Warrior: Great for wristers, a bit wonky (at least with me) on one timers, stick really feels like it was meant for non-defencemen and low flex preference. I'm still deathly afraid of breaking it. Snapshots are awesome though, I love the sound over any other stick.

Your best bet is to obviously try both of them out (if you know someone who has either or), but you can't go wrong with the Total One, it is definitely my favourite stick.

Regardless you won't be able to convince anyone but yourself, your current shooting style will need to adjust to the thin profile blade, I found good success in a Lie 4 on the Widow yet still prefer 5-5.5 on the Total One (if you can find it)

It is almost more than certain that Warrior will improve on the Widow and before we know it more people will be releasing dagger taper sticks that will be undeniably durable.

I believe so

They flex very differently. I haven't used a total one since last year at summer jam, never had a chance to give them a head to head shootout.

An I wanted to know, does the 85 feel wippier? I normaly use a 75 an cut it a inch so im wondering if the flex profile makes it feel wippier or if it'll be too stiff

I've been really happy with both of my totalones, but im so eager to try the dagger taper. so i might go with a widow/diablo. i've heard it is pingy, to not pingy. thats really all im looking for is a sound stick for passes/snap shots as all i really do.
