Flyers' 2011/2012 Season Discussion

Recommended Posts

After the Cup run in '10, I was very eager for this past season to begin. This year I'm even more eager, but with a bit more tempered expectations.

EDIT: http://flyers.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=594552&navid=DL|PHI|home Here is the opening night roster, Walker is believed to be the sixth defenseman, and I'd imagine Shelley's days are numbered regardless of Couturier's NHL games played.

Certainly an encouraging start to the season. It was nice to see two guys get their NHL firsts like that.

I was at the game Saturday and the crowd leaned very favorably towards Richards, except of course when he had the puck.

Fortunately, I am still fully limbed. And yeah, it would be cool to see Lindros in a Flyers jersey again, is his participation all but confirmed?

I was at last night's game. So sloppy! But, it's way too early to panic. I think they should bring Rinaldo back up. He was like the sparkplug for the team.

Only a Flyers fan would think that the solution is to call up a guy with 9 points, 330 PIMs and a -7 in 60 AHL games last year.

My original comment was directed more at those that were talking about how great the Flyers were after winning their first couple games. After two straight losses, many of them were jumping off the bandwagon faster than Vancouver fans.

I'm calling it right now, Jagr scores tonight.

I've been saying that every game. I was recording video everytime Jagr was on the ice at each of the games I've been to just in case he scored. lol

Scary incident with Pronger. Hope he is able to fully recover. With Couturier getting closer to his 10th game is there anyone who thinks he should or will be sent to Juniors? I'm seeing a lot of people predicting he stays with the Flyers. Although he is only 18 I'd be a bit surprised if someone who is being used as a top PK guy gets sent down.

Pronger's scream/yell really made me uncomfortable. Horrible feeling to see someone with such toughness go down so hard...As for Couturier...i think he'll stay well past the 9 games -- but not past the 40 games; i'm sure Homer doesn't want him to lose a year of RFA.

that was an awesome game last night, and must have been even better in person. Philadelphia really showed thier offensive depth last night.

anyone catch Bryz post game interview? quite interesting.

?? offensive depth?

The Jets had 15 people with at least 1 point to Philly's 13.

Does that make the Jets "deeper" offensively than the Flyers?

It was a horrible showing by the goalies involved. period.

Good Southeast division road trip for the Flyers who got 5 out of a possible 6 points. The last two games weren't ideal, but they still managed to get the win. Giroux was on point with his shot last night, 2 beautiful snipes. Hopefully this team can start to generate a more consistent game and stay in first place in the East.

sorry chadd, but only ignorance would hide the fact that having a solid 3rd and 4th line has helped the Flyers this season. Sure, Rinaldo contributes way more energy than goal scoring but he's a role player, and he's no sideshow like Carcillo was. I'd much rather have him in the line up than Nodl as he is certainly more reliable.

Tonight should be interesting.

Go Flyers?! Go Kings?! Go Richards?! AH!
