Anything similar to a heatley curve?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

Ive been looking a lot into this (multiple ineffective research) and I couldn't find anything so I'll ask my question here!

I'd like to know if there is a blade pattern that would be similar to the Easton Heatley curve in ccm but WITHOUT the square toe... And while I'm at it, in other compagnies like bauer and warrior too!

I'd also like to know the difference in lie with other curves!

Thanks !!!

While a bit more heel-y, and not quite as deep, all the various Forsberg/Zetterberg/Cammalleri clones play decently similar to the Heatley, and have roughly the same lie. It's the PM9 in Bauer, Savard in Warrior, etc.

I made the transition from the various Forsberg/Zetterberg clones to the Heatley almost instantly since the curves are pretty similar. I can't imagine going the opposite way would be difficult, either.

Yes, the Tavares is definitely the most similar. I have noticed that the Koho Tavares is a bit different than the CCM Tavares (in case you're going for wood)

Since the question is answered, I have a new one that I think can fit into this thread. Does anyone know the difference between the CCM U+ 10 replacement blade and the CCM U+ Crazy Strong replacement blade? I know the former is Standard and the latter is Tapered. But is there a difference in quality?

Is there anything in CCM that would be similar?

I think the Lecavalier is probably closest, it has a round toe. The difference is the lie, I think Heatley is a 5 and Lecavalier is a 5.5. Nothing beats going to the store and seeing for yourself.

I checked that already, as you can see the blade pattern chart is different at the top AND bottom and they are completly different. I don't know which one to refer as of now, which is why I am asking here.

According to that chart Lecavalier has a square toe, and you mentionned before it has a round toe.... I don't quite get it.

It'll depend on whether you get an old or a new stick, CCM recently changed the Lecavalier pattern, pretty sure the new one has a square toe, while I think the old one had a round toe, and was a completely different pattern in general. I think the new one is similar to the Easton Heatley, square toe and all, but since you're looking for a Heatley with a ROUND toe, that doesn't really help you. Don't think a round toe, not very open, mid curve exists in the current CCM lineup.

ahhh crap... I guess then i'll have to shave the blade then....

Is that going to affect the durability of the blade at all? I shaved my S19 heatley and it wasn't long before the blade started to chip and break... I guess the same will happen with the ccm sticks...

The actual carbon layer is quite thin, below that it's foam that you don't want to expose, I certainly wouldn't be shaving any of my blades. Why are you so fixed on CCM? Why not just get a not-too-open mid curve that actually comes with a round toe from another brand, like the Bauer P88?

I want to try out the CL !!! After that I'm going to try out the totalone and/or the apx someday if i have the $$$ eventually.

I went to check out the curves yesterday and the Lecavalier seems very close and the square toe is not THAT square-ish so I guess i'll try that.

Thanks for your help guys! really appreciate it.

I've used the Lecavalier. It has a round toe.

Didn't they very recently change the curve, though? IIRC the old Lecavalier was similar to a Sakic (round toe, but decently open) while the new Lecavalier is similar to an Iginla (more square toe, but pretty closed)? I could be wrong, I don't use CCM sticks.

It has actually changed every year since the original U+ came out. At that time it was an open heel curve. Then it went to the Sakic when the cl came out. Now its close to an Iginla. All of those iterations have been with a round toe for the record.
