Iginla vs. Sakic pattern

Recommended Posts

Just recently switched, haven't had a chance to use my new Iginla pattern and just looking for some insight for anyone that's used these patterns. Can I expect a huge difference in passing/shooting?

You'll notice is how the Sakic curve is slightly open and the Iginla is closed, I really notice it on slap shots.

Massive difference. It's all personal preference, but the Sakic is easily one of my favorite curves, while the Iggy is definitely one of my least favorite. The Iggy's blade is significantly shorter, much more closed than the Sakic, with less rocker and a slightly squarer toe (especially on the bottom edge). With the way I shoot I find I have a harder, more accurate shot with the Sakic (wristers and slappers both), and I prefer the Sakic for saucer passes as well. I like both sticks when it comes to stick handling and receiving passes, but really I like all mid curves for stick handling and receiving passes.

Said this before but,

With the flatter rocker and closed curve, the Iginla makes it easier to keep passes and shots low and for stickhandling/shooting with puck a little ways from the body. The Sakic has more rocker and is more open, which lets you cup the puck more on shots and get more flex (i.e. snap shots) while still firing the puck high, and the rockered heel and toe lets you stick handle further away from the body and pull it in close to shoot.
