Jofa shoulder pad questions

Recommended Posts

Whats Up Guys!

Any Jofa 7000 pant owners? Curious on their fit. Are they a 2-piece pant? And if so what's that exactly mean? You can change shells?

Currently in some SupremeOne60's,and looking to upgrade.

Thanks Guys!

I wear RBK branded Jofa 7000 pants; they are two-piece, padded uppers and lowers fastened together with buttons. You cannot replace the padded lowers with a shell, just other padded lowers. I'm currently wearing the Jofa 7000 uppers with Bauer XL lowers to give me a bit of extra length. I wear a Large and for me they fit pretty big, much bigger than my Pro Stock Bauer pants in the same size anyway.

They're the best pants I've ever worn; but I would say that they are not restrictive, but they are BULKY and very comfortable pants as far as I'm concerned. I'm a big guy, so carrying them around is no problem, but for smaller guy's I'd think twice.

I also have a pair of the Jofa 7000s.

stuie7 answered what you asked, but I just wanted to add they are a great pant. They seem to be equivalent to pro-stock pants or Tackla 5000x. I wear mine with black Tackla lowers, just because I got a blue ebay pair a couple of years ago.

There is a lot of protection in the uppers, when they were new (the uppers) felt very stiff for a while, but they have broken in nicely now. The padding in the thighs are 2 piece and I think they are kind of the Euro-fit too.

Thanks guys!

I' been checking a pair on Ebay, they're a size Medium (which is the size Im wearing in my Bauer Supreme One60's right now). Seller says they are to fit a 32-34 waist size. Now, clue me in because I've never owned a 2 piece pant...where do you get other bottoms? Are companies still making them? (Obviously not Jofa), but you mentioned you paired a Bauer one with it? And also A tackla? How's that work...clue me in because I'm a dummie when it comes to 2-piece pants.

Thanks!

Bottoms come up from time to time here, on IW, maybe on ebay, and at pro team sales. Fastening tops to bottoms is with buttons around the waist. If they match up, it's easy, if not, you can always make more button holes. Pro stock pants are generally 2-piece, while retail are generally not, these days.

Whats Up Guys!

In the market for some new shoulder pads, looking at a pair of Jofa 8800's. What do you think? Mobility is key for me as a forward. Hate restricting bulky shoulder pads, especially that restrict movement. Gotten some recomendations to check out the CCM U+ wondering how these will stack up against them. Whats the better pad? Or any other recomendations would be great!

Thanks!!!

Yeah my tackla lowers were from ebay as well. I don't think 2 piece pants were ever sold as seprates. Mine are actually M lowers on small uppers, but they work.

I have the 8K Pro Stocks. The body and fit is pretty similar to the 8800. My shoulder caps are a lower profile. Mine are light and plenty protective. I love them.

^ Yeah thanks. Have been trying to find info out there on them and reviews from people but it's scarce. They seem to be a very protective pad, yet my friend recommended I wait for the new Bauer line to drop the new stuff. He said it's really great looking stuff so I'm thinking twice...

I've seen the pics of the new Nexus line from Bauer and the shoulders are exactly the same as the current Lightspeed Pro but with a slight color variation. Its's a real nice set of pads but far from unique and certainly not worth waiting for IMO. They are also heavier and bulkier pad.

Heavier in comparison to the Jofa 8800? Have you been able to try them on? How about the CCMs? They seem to have a pretty nice shoulder cap design that doesnt look bulky.

First, I have to correct myself... mine are 7K pro stocks, not 8K. Weight wise I have tried on the Bauer Lightspeed Pros and they are certainly heavier and more padded than the RBKs but felt quite nice. There is a guy on my team with 8800 - he loves them. I really think you need to try things on to be honest... its so personal.

Regarding CCMs - I had a pair an didn't like them. While I liked the low profile shoulder, the pad sits very tight and close to your body, it is designed to be that way. I felt like I was suffocating and it was VERY hot. I looked forever for new shoulders and have come to really, really love my 7Ks.

Thats exactly the issue here...

Its not like I can try them on at any pro shop, and I dont know anyone who owns a pair. I'd be picking them up unknowing of the fit, and just relying on what others owners have to say about them.

I've never tried on the 6Ks but they look really similar to my 7Ks. I think the 7Ks were pro stocks. Some of materials look different. The shoulder caps look the same.

The 6ks, looks to have low profile shoulder caps.

The 6ks I just picked up are Jofa pro stocks. Would love to

compare with someone.

Having worn the 7ks for a couple of years, and they have the same caps, I wouldn't exactly call them "low profile" but they are certainly better than many of the others out there.

If you like them, and feel comfortable, don't worry about any comparisons or anything. Just play and have fun! I like my 7ks a lot. Very light. Pretty similar stuff. I was able to remove the padding around the neck (velcroe) and the belly pad and now they are perfect.

DK...

You tried Warrior Projekts right? How you feel about them?

Thanks!

I liked the Projekts. Nice mobility. A solid pad. Not a "low profile" pad though.

Seems to be warrior is really addressing that upcoming in their new 2012 release stuff.

Looks promising...
