I think all of the Scandinavian countries have the ads

Also don't know how i feel about the DX visors USA has, kinda makes the helmet look like a space helmet

Don't like the Visors at all. USA looks great this game. Very talented team.

Yeah, I mean understand that Canada and the US, need to adhere to safety but still I think they look pretty tacky

Also I wonder if the US team has an advantage since its mostly comprised of NCAA players

Yes, I think the NCAA background is a huge boost. They look very organized and confident.

I think it was pointed out a couple of times that Canada is carrying two NHL'ers

Those are the visors provided by Bauer for International play. They have been commonplace in Major Junior for the better part of a decade.

The NCAA background doesn't mean anything. Denmark is an awful team and it will be a miracle if they don't get regulated back to Division 1. The USA has only won Gold at the WJC twice. USA Hockey had been effectively black balling guys from the WJC who went to Major Junior. What the found out was that the US team HAD to include them on the roster if they wanted enough grit to compete for medals in this tournament. 2 Gold medals won by the USA sandwich 5 golds in a row for Canada. Outside of the two golds the US has 1 silver and 3 bronze medals in this tournament. The US did not become relevant in this tournament until 2004 when the upset Canada with the help of Marc-Andre Fleury.

my question is how does Canada stack up against the rest of the tourney, not just Canada vs. The States.

Canada has major, major issues with goaltending: not that they aren't capable, but that there is something funny going on psychologically, not only with Visentin but also with Wedgewood. Huberdeau, Stone and Strome are looking terrific against softer competition, and Connolly will be a force, but the Hamilton boys are going to drive this team to whatever they achieve in the late games. It's going to fall to them to shut down the top lines of the Swedes, Russian, and Americans.

Trev: check tsn.ca -- I think they're webcasting a fair number of the games.

We have great offense this year. Granlund bros, Armia, Pulkkinen, Donskoi and Barkov jr. are all important players for their teams in SM-liiga. Someone said this team is even better than the one which won the gold back in '98.

Finland needs to get those white stickers off their helmets...Looks ridiculous!

Some teams need the sponsorship $$$ to even be able to field a team in the tournament. So if means great teams like the Finns , sweeds , russians etc........are able to travel to North America to play , I say keep those stickers and jersey patches!

Pretty pathetic display by the US. I'm not sure which game the announcers for NHL Network were watching, but the US looked completely lost. They half-assed it to the puck, decided they weren't going to play the body anymore, passed when they needed to shoot, and shot when they needed to pass. I'm guessing Gibson doesn't see another minute of game time the rest of the way unless it's an emergency and I'll bet there was some hurt feelings in the US locker room when Blais got done with the post-game talk.

Why did Gibson start over Campbell? Campbell has won back to back U18 golds, and was the top goalie at the WJC last year... how does he not start every game?

That decision may be determined by how he plays the next game. Going to Gibson again, if Campbell does well, may not look too smart, especially if Gibson has another tough outing.
