General Skate Fit Characteristics by Brand

Recommended Posts

Let me start off by saying that I'm a beginner. I've played inline, but I'm trying to make the switch to ice. I have wide feet - especially in the midfoot - and there are really no LHS options that can help me with my fit issue... Because of that, I'm forced to try and figure out different fit characteristics by reviews and taking chances on buying and returning. I know everyone will say I need to try on every brand, but like I said, with no LHS, I don't have that luxury. Even the closest shops that are 3+ hours drive away don't have the E, EE, and W+ sizes I would need to make an educated choice. Everywhere I've called has said they would need to special order the wider skates.

I'm on record that those descriptions are not accurate across the board. Nor will I comment on them to correct it for them.

Wouldn't it be nice if you could look at a chart and see what type of fit each brand offers.

If it were that easy, manufacturers would just list it themselves and sell direct, essentially bastardizing what a qualified skate fitter can do.

That is EXACTLY why MSH has never published a skate fit guide.

To the OP, there are tons of topics on this regardless, a search should bring them up.
