Skate problem - need Bauer customer service e-mail

Recommended Posts

So here's the deal. I bought some 8090's 5 or 6 years ago and liked them so much that I bought a second pair to keep once the first pair needed to retire.

Now fast forward to 6 months ago, I decide to start in on my new 8090's since the older pair had taken a beating. Got them sharpened and was off to the races.....for a few ice times until the steel started breaking. I've now replaced the steel 3 times (2 on the left skate, 1 on the right skate) to the tune of around $90. The tech at my lhs said that the holders seem to be mounted on straight so he isn't sure why they'd be breaking.

I've since hung my "new" skates up and went back to my older ones but am at a loss of what to do with the newer 8090's without sinking more money into them. Long story short, I'm looking for Bauer's e-mail address to see if there is anything they can do.

Thanks for any help guys.

Boots and holders are way past warranty; but if you bought replacement steel after the first one broke, that can be warrantied.

I want to make it completely clear that the course of action is to go through your authorized dealer. That is what they are there for. The only time you are supposed to contact Bauer directly is for stick warranties, not for skates or anything else.

What kind of steel are you replacing the Bauer steel with? Bauer steel is not the greatest and it can break at whim. Also be sure when steel is installed it's not too tight and not too loose. I would say you just ran into a string of bad luck. Maybe try Step Steel. It's not the holders.

They are LS2 holders and being replaced with whatever the latest Bauer steel is being used.....Sounds like I'm SOL.

Anyone know off hand what the warranty length of steel is?

Steel is warrantied for a year.

Have your store call them and get the steel warrantied. They will give you new steel and have their account credited.

And once again, reiterating my point re: contacting Bauer. I just had to delete someone's post who suggested calling them. The proper course of action is going through your authorized dealer.
