New helmet and Visor

Recommended Posts

Hi

Im looking into buying a new helmet and visor as the title says but im totally clueless as to what i should be looking at.

I am more looking towards the comfort side of things as it will be used for inline where protection isnt as big of an issue, but i have no idea whats good, comfy etc etc. I currently have a RBK 4k with a face cage which will become a backup helmet.

As for visors i have no idea, i think i would prefer a straight visor but dont want it a mile away from my face but dont want it to close either and again i have no idea what would work with which helmets.

Can anybody reccomened something for me

Thanks

The most comfortable helmets, for me, are the ones that fit my head well so they don't slide around or squeeze to tightly. So that will be different for everyone.

As for the visor, I just picked up one of the HockeyTron visors for $20 and it's a straight cut but covers my nose. I like it so far.

Seconded on the find what fits your head the best, not only will it be the most comfortable but the best protection too. For a visor I'm really liking the Hedjuk MH-X visor I've been using

Hey, another aussie, Which part of the country are you from?

I have had a few hits and misses with the helmets and last time asked around players at my club and tried on their helmets. This helped but wasn't perfect. For the visor I would definatly try one of the tron ones since they are available from Tron Australia and won't break the bank with the freight from over seas.

I am from Melbourne (:

So far i have been lucky with all my gear but i know eventually its going to run out....as for the Tron visor i will try it if a visor from hockey monkey or inlinewarehouse boosts up the shipping costs

At least you have a few good shops down there, Townsville has one skateboard store.

"won't ship to australia" issue is to look for a number of smaller stores that will, ie tron usa ( carries main stream brands) hockeyoutlet etc.

shipping isnt a problem as there are many forwarding companies and price USA that i have used before that will do it all for me. Concern really is only comfort but dont have the option to try on every single helmet :\

I see a lot of bauers in the NHL, what are they all wearing?

How is the fit of the RBK helmet? If it fits and works well, I would simply go with another RBK. Fit is the most important factor in buying a helmet. It doesn't matter if a different helmet tests better if it doesn't fit your head.

I picked up a Bauer 2100 for using for inline only. Cost me £60 (with cage)

Never had a helmet keep the heat in so much - steer clear of it lol especially if you're in Oz! The padding simply repells sweat and it just runs down your face constantly. I'm going to grab a diff helmet pretty sharpish or use my ice one in the meantime (Bauer 4500)

As for visor, I use a Itech (Bauer) HS22 Pro Wave tinted, love it. Never fogs and overall perfect for roller (for me anyway.)

You get what you pay for...!
