When we came across this amusing video of what appears to be an ice resurfacing machine cruising at highway speeds on Bangshift.com this past week we had a simple question—how did someone turn a Zamboni into a street legal vehicle.

The simple answer is they didn't. Although this vehicle was built to resemble a modern version of the ice resurfacing machine invented by Frank Zamboni in 1949 it is actually a well disguised 1984 Chevrolet pickup truck. In fact, beyond the driver's station this unique custom vehicle shares almost no parts with an actual Zamboni—the body panels and frame work beneath are all hand built.

Reminds me of a NYT story about how every new Zamboni is tested on the street in California. Although the fake one on the highway or one at a drive-thru would be way better.

I've always wanted to take a Zamboni through the Tim Horton's drive-thru. You can't get more Canadian than that!

I got to drive ours in a Fourth Of July parade a few years back. Had a guy in the dump tank throwing candy.

We got stopped by the local cops heading out of the rink lot on a White Castle run at 2am. Luckily they had a sense of humor about it. It probably helped we gave them free soda and popcorn when they came around!

I don't think you could work at a rink and not give it a go.
