help with first ops

Recommended Posts

Hey guys im looking to buy my first one piece stick. I found a TPS response R8 online for a low price and I was wondering if this stick was any good. Or would i be better off paying fifty bucks more for a vapor x60 or easton eq50? I currently use a bauer one95 shaft blade combo and love it. THanks for any help in advance!

Dont buy the EQ50 lol.. its arguably the worst stick ever produced and its overpriced as hell. anything else will do. you better buy last years (or even the years before)' top end twigs than this years mid-range sticks.

i suggest Easton SE16, Bauer one95, or warrior dolomite.

unless they are prostock returns or they have been sitting in the store, you will have a next to impossible shot at finding SE16s or One95s

i primarily used the Bauer One95 and the TotalOne, and i picked up a EQ50 for 150 bucks and can say its a fairly good stick. i find it whipper than both the Bauers (both sticks are 100 flex). the heavier blade is something you kind of have to get used to but when you added the weighted end into it, it felt balanced and good

i thought the stick was supposed to be used with the end plug, but to be customzied to your liking. i have used the one95, total one, apx, s19 and rs. eq50 is easily on par (i liked it better than the rs which went soft quickly and sucked on slappers) and gets a bad rap, which is why im eager to hear how its possibly the worst stick ever.

tps r8 is a very good stick. never got a lot of mainstream love. a guy on my team stocked up them a while back and he's down to his last one. light, balanced, great kick, very similar to the t90 but with a slightly different blade if you ask me.

another guy on my team had a bunch of eq50 shafts, none of them lasted very long, whippped out too quick for his liking, granted this guy goes through a lot of sticks like that.

the weights were just gimmicky.

Pretty much this. I have a Sherwood T90 (love it btw), and a guy on my team just got an R8. It is slightly lighter than the T90, and shaft shape and taper look almost identical. I didn't get a chance to play with it, so I can't comment on the blade. Either it or the T90 are fantastic options. The Winnwell GX-8 is another one that is good for a budget stick.

I don't own an EQ50 but have shot around with one. I did not like it at all. Felt soft for me. I think Bauer makes some of the best midline sticks in the Vapor line.

Depends on what is your price range, and are you more interested in high performance or durability? The EQ50 is a decent stick, theres a reason nhlers still use it but i personally wouldn't suggest it. here is two random suggestions that are mid to high end sticks around $170; a) Warrior Diablo b)Reebok 8k c) Warrior Dynasty.
