Hot hands! Need a cooler glove

Recommended Posts

So my classic leather TPS HGTs are awesome on the ice, but I sweat horribly in them playing roller. What gloves breathe well for roller? **I prefer a 4 roll design** I'd love to get a glove with mesh gussets, but not really interested in ordering custom. Any suggestions? Looking at CCM 4-Roll Pros, but open to suggestions.

I know you said you prefer 4-roll style but I would really recommend lacrosse gloves. I have played box lacrosse for my whole life and taken more than a beating from sticks and blocked shots. Protection is not an issue, flexibility is unbeatable and in my experience they are always very cool and give great stick feel. I play with a few guys in ice who use LAX gloves as well. They're cheap too - $35 for bottom end gloves.

As long as you go with a glove with nylon construction or something like tufftek, I think it would be a considerable upgrade for breathability. I'd be more interested in how the glove fit more than mesh gussets or extras.

Warrior Eraser Pro gloves now on clearance... I've got mine for inline hockey and on cooler nights you can feel the breeze going thru the mesh gussets. Extremely protective, lightest gloves I've used, and lasted my almost a year before they started to show some holes. I do have to mention that they are a little on the snug size in terms of fit, so I actually cut out the internal padding as I prefer the looser fit, but overall its been great!

Tell Justin to re-make the Mission 714 Glove w/ Alkali. Those were the best gloves for summer indoor roller hockey when it was hot as heck.

After trying on many different sets of gloves at my LHS today, I settled on a pair of Warrior Bullys. Lightweight, tufftek, mesh gussets, and like fatwabbit I cut the inner pads out for a looser fit (and more air circulation). Thanks all for the feedback!

Am I the only one that doesn't think nylon shell keeps your hands any cooler than leather? Look at the layers of plastic and padding in between. I think it is only the palm type and gusset type that affects your hands. Unless the back of the glove has vents.

Jazz- some of the Eastons I looked at yesterday had them. I think there are some in the Mission line, and I believe you can order them as an option from Eagle.

I've got to say, mesh gussets are nice. I can actually say I felt the difference between those and standard gussets.... in warm ups at least. During the game I wasn't even thinking about it.

hands were still sweaty.

So played pickup last night with the Bullys and I gotta say, I'm a believer in the mesh gussets! I could definitely feel the airflow as I played- hands still get sweaty, but not nearly as bad. Definitely happy with the purchase.

Lax gloves are definitely more breathable. Playing lax during those hot days of spring and/or summer requires gloves to have proper ventilation. Lax gloves also provide more flexibility.

Any new eagle gloves with tuff tech material. Recently owned pfx pro series and air ventilation keeps hands from getting too sweaty or hot especially playing roller

The only thing that has kept me from using LAX gloves has been the non-locking thumbs.

However, I might reach my limit with the heat and humidity (Southeast US) and give them a shot. Summer league's about to start at my outdoor rink.

Search Criagslist or eBay for Mission Wicked 1 gloves, best roller glove ventilation ever. I've seen them go for 15 bucks in good condition, well worth it.
