Best standard blade for AK27 2011 shaft?

Recommended Posts

I currently have an AK27 2011 (and a one95 shaft) shaft with an Easton ST blade in it(the orange/black one) and the balance is horrible. I have the blades in the Hall pattern, which I know is a heavier pattern, but still.

Can you guys recommend any quality standard blades that would feel a little more balanced with such light shafts?

I had the newer AK blade before on a one95 shaft and it broke within the first 3 ice times...and I'm not sure about other companies, but Warrior does not warranty their blades.

I've had pretty good luck with my AK (and Dolo) blades. I'd recommend the One95 if there was any way in hell of finding them.

I'd go with the TotalONE but maybe try the Easton RS? I think it's essentially a Z-Carbon blade, correct me if I'm wrong though. I think the new Mako M5 is basically a ST blade as well so if you didn't like the ST steer clear of that one.

i'd go with older ak27 and totalone. the last ak27 didnt feel as good as the older version. and easton wood blade might be a good too in terms of balance.

A few years back I was one of the old guys who thought wood was the only thing...Well Bauer then bowed out of wood and on a whim...I picked up some used graphite Shafts from Play it again sports.

That led me to the next experiment. What is what??? OPS and Shafts and Blades. I picked up sticks that did not feel right and some that where nice, but way too pricey.

Shafts and blades really allow one to build a stick to what you like and refine it easier than anything else.

So the 1st thing I did was buy some Easton Hybrid blades ( On sale of course) the stick felt way out of balance...so I started weighin the parts. What I found out was Easton had a figure on the blade and my scale was 40 grams heavier than the OEM label...WOW...I can now see why wood is dead and I'm not talking about using a featherlight graphite stick either.

so I went into a store with my scale and found out the wood blades can be much lighter than I first imagined. Currently going all over the map on blades, depending on price, but you might be amazed by the weight of a wood blade.

I do utilize Total Hockey as they list weights on some blades, shafts and OPS...Some places will also provide you with weighs if you request them.

Warrior does list weights of blades (generally) on some of their catalog pages, and that will help give you an idea of how low you can go and for what price point as well.

I have an APX tapered blade on my Dynasty shaft. No complaints, other than it took some sanding to fit in the shaft.

Using the AK27 standard blades in the AK27 shaft. Great combo for performance but terrible durability on the blades. Part of the reason I went with a Bauer blade on my Dynasty.
