I think he going to be regreting it for sure. Unless he pulls a Tommy Iommi and makes his own finger tips it's gunna be weird gripping a stick. Basically think of eliminating your whole nail, try to wrap your hand around a stick, I think it would be really hard to get a grip.

My physiology and anatomy teacher said that the ends of your fingers can grow back to a certain extent. I dont know if a centimeter is past that certain extent or not though.

It will make his grip different for a while. But remember Lyle Odelein lost a finger in a farming accident, and while he's not a power forward by any stretch of the imagination, it hasn't affected him too adversely.

Personally, I think it was silly as hell to amputate. The kid's got plenty of money, let it heal. But it wasn't my booger flicker.
