two things. Black Edge Blades impressions and RBK Pro Stock Pants

Recommended Posts

1. REALLY impressed with the Black edge runners on my custom APX skates. Ive had them long enough to post my thoughts and I am GLAD I came hear and read the initial reviews. I am fairly neutral when it comes to singing praise, but I REALLY think they make a nice difference over the stock units in terms of their advertised features. Ive noticed more confidence in my edges, and the retention of the sharpness. Very happy! I suggest trying them out!

2. So let down after ordering a pair of pro stock pants online. Buyer beware when shopping for these, as I NEGLECTED TO READ THE REVIEWS ON THIS SITE about how many of them fit larger then regular models. Ive worn size XL for the last 16 years! My waist goes from 36-38" depending how much I am eating. I got some RBK customs, and they are XL (label shows 36-38) and damned if they dont fit like an XXL. Much too large, and Im going to lose money on that one.

So kudos to the great reviews on the Black Edge runners on this site, Im quite happy I researched and bought them. And word to the wise, Try on gear before you buy it (esp pro stock gear sizing, buyer beware)

:/

Why is it buyer beware? its your own fault? Did you buy pro stock pants before? Pro stock pants are different than retail pants. They fit different. Its your own fault. I buy pro stock all the time but I know what to look for

You literally just said what he said. He never blamed anyone else.

if you know your stuff for prostock then theres no problem

All he's saying is that he didn't know that pro stock pants run significantly bigger than retail pants. I don't know why you're all up in arms about it.

There was no reason for anyone to be a prick in this topic. The original poster was simply passing along some information that he learned first hand and wanted to share. That's what this site is about, not insulting people. I haven't hard to issues warnings or suspensions in a while, let's not screw up that trend.

Didn't mean to sound like a prick. I understand we are all here to help each other out and have fun. I recommend trying out the pants anyways see how you like them. Might be suprised.

It seems to be part of the sizing process for clothes, at least in the U.S., which is all I know. You have to pretend that the numbers used are waist sizes in unknown units, and find what fits by trial and error. And repeat the process if you change brands or products. If you measure your waist, then buy jeans in that size, you'll find them too loose. With hockey pants, it's even tougher, depending on which parts you want tight, and which loose, and if you have to buy to fit your waist, gut, or get on over your butt.

I still run across T-shirts in XL that are larger than others in XXL.

Lol. I was a little snappy in my reply, but yah, it was me essentially "feeling shame" for not researching the pro stock pants sizing better! The information was here on the site in other posts, and had I searched, I could have saved myself some $$$

I cant get over the quality of these units! Very high end compared to the cheapish retail stuff I have been buying (Ive gone through 3 pairs of pants in the last 2 years, I play a LOT) However I am weighing the options of an ASHL player NEEDING such padding in his pants. However I like having that security, the older I get, the harder it is to rebound from injuries!

Im actually placing an order for the smaller LARGE size version of these pants now from the same seller....

Anyhow, as far as the Black Edge runners go, I had a local dealer install and sharpen them for me. They are fitted to my custom APX skates, I required a new blade after taking a puck off my LS2 steel. I was enquiring about getting another set of LS2's, when the dealer told me these were an option. So I did my research on the forum and have tried them out.

Placebo effect aside, I really feel an extra sense of confidence in my edges. Especially on my weaker turning side. I can dig a little deeper and get a little lower, and my leg just feels more solid and into the ice.

As well, I feel that the edges have held really consistant over the last few skates.

I cant say I have a long term impression yet, but in my short 3 weeks with them, I have a really good first impression.

I usually go pro stock now. Depends on what is it though. Better quality at a cheaper price most of the time. Glad you joined the club. You won't be disapointed

The only thing I don't like with buying pro stock is if you like something, you better clean out the store of em because when they're gone they're extremely hard to find. I regret not getting more Kessel "X60s" at my LHS when I had the chance.
