Discontinued blade pattern..need a little help

Recommended Posts

I used the Bauer P71 (Peca) blade pattern for years, and now that my last one finally broke I've resorted to using emergency wooden blades I have while I try to figure out a replacement solution. Does anybody know what a good replacement for the P71 would be? The P14 they currently sell looks like it would be the closest comparison; but it definitely has a good amount of differences. Hopefully somebody else has come across this before, or gone through it themselves. I'm currently trying out the PM9, but it just doesn't have the quick-rising shots that I came to rely on when on a PK.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Warrior Kovalchuk, or Easton Heatley would probably be the most similar and readily available. Tough to gauge since P71 wasn't available in a composite blade for very long. Easton Iginla or Bauer P88 would be close, in a much shorter blade.

keep a clean wood blade and bring it to your LHS in order to make a couple of composite replacements. Sherwood, CCM & RBK have that Option.

Or send it to Eleven Hockey.

I contacted Sherwood via email, and they never got back to me. I'll try and get CCM/RBK to help me out.

Eleven Hockey? Has anybody ever used them before? I checked out their website and it seems promising, but I've never heard of them.

I think Eleven hockey took over the old Christian Bros. factory. Go to their website, they also have the rights to old Branches "technology" (i.e. double trouble/rhino wrap). I think I've read here that a few members were satisfied with their products though I've never tried them myself.

Edit: From their site http://www.elevenhockey.com/pages/about-us "we augment our products with a variety of innovative new technologies and employ superior manufacturing techniques perfected over 100 years, drawing on the experience of our friends at Christian Brothers, Northland Hockey, and Bending Branches."

And I was wrong about the Christian Factory. Apparently Boa Hockey bought it. http://www.boahockey.com/About-our-site.html

Thank you for the information. Unfortunately Eleven Hockey quoted me at $5,000 for a one-piece mold, and $1,500 for a blade mold; along with a minimum of 6 units. That's a little (or maybe a lot) over the amount I was looking to spend on this project.

SWD would be the best bet, but I believe all orders have to go through a dealer as of right now. I'm not sure if their new customizer will allow that or not.

hahaha, joke..?

i had good experience with eleven hockey. send them my old sundin wooden blade i used for years for custom blade.. i ordered 12 pieces and i have to say they made a fine job. they asked something like 24 bucks for custom pattern fee. so you might should think about a wooden custom blade

I'll check if my local proshop does it.

I wish I was joking. I sent them an email asking about taking a mold of a blade and turning it into a stick, or at the very least a replacement blade. This is what I got:

Nicholas,

For a true one piece custom composite, the fee is $5,000 for the mold. The mold fee for custom composite blades is $1,500. There is a minimum order of six blades or sticks for the first order. If you have any further questions please let me know.

well, there is probably also length, flex, weight, ecc. calculated. would be interesting what other companies are asking. but again, they are nice guys there, maybe you can find a way.. or go for wood.

Yeah, wood is probably going to be my only option. The price per blade is a little high, but it's not too bad all things considered.

the price might be high, but what i've experienced, the blade is more durable than from other companies.
