Kyle Friedman 9 Report post Posted May 10, 2013 Im stuck deciding between getting 1 of 2 pairs of gloves. Either Eagle ppfs (2011 model) or Bauer 4 roll pros. I like both gloves and can get both for basically the same price. Im looking for a durable palm and good breathability. Which glove should I get? Does anyone who has used either or both have any preferences?
Chadd 916 Report post Posted May 10, 2013 The Eagles are much, much better gloves.
TeamHonda401 54 Report post Posted May 10, 2013 +1 for the PPF. The msh palms are a perfect mix of feel and durability. I wish I could buy another pair of my current pre Vaughn buyout ones for a backup but they are still going strong after a year and a half. The 4 roll pro is a great glove as well though so either way you will end up with a solid pair of gloves.
Vet88 674 Report post Posted May 10, 2013 +1 for 4 roll pros. I much prefer the way the glove feels through the fingers and over the back of the hand. My ppfs are still sitting in my glove box basically unused. But as TH401 says, either is a great glove and it just comes down to preference of feel.
coryroth24 15 Report post Posted May 10, 2013 +1 for the 4-rolls. I own both PPFs and quite a few pairs of 4-rolls. To me, the thing that makes the 4-rolls better is the mobility in the wrist. I don't feel any restrictions at all with the 4-rolls. The PPFs however feel tight in the wrist which drives me nuts, and I'm not a big guy, I have puny wrists! But don't get me wrong, the PPFs are still a great glove, the feel like putting on slippers. I use my PPFs for coaching and I only play with my 4-rolls... Kyle Friedman 9 Report post Posted May 10, 2013 Hmm everyone is saying what I noticed, the best things about each pair of gloves. I love the soft feel and thin palm of the eagles but I also like the flex thumb and open wrist of the 4 rolls. Which glove offers better air flow to keep my hands dry during the game? AIREAYE 248 Report post Posted May 10, 2013 That would go to the Bauers imo. They have vents through the backrolls with identical cutouts in the backhand liner on the inside to match.
sickwilly 37 Report post Posted May 10, 2013 I have both. So far, I prefer the Bauers by a pretty wide margin. To be fair, I haven't used my PPFs much. No probs with ventilation in either, but I'd say the Bauers feel a little more breathable. The main reason that I prefer the 4 rolls is the wider fit and the wrist mobility it affords. I have fairly large, but not huge hands. The Bauers felt broken in the first time I used them (the PPFs were good to go but feel like they will take a touch more time to break in). If the PPFs loosen up/widen out a bit with some use, they will be great also. Unless you don't like the fit of what you get, it would be hard to go wrong with either, IMO. CTB 32 Report post Posted May 10, 2013 Just to clarify you're considering the "old" Bauer 4 Roll Pros not the new Nexus line?
Kyle Friedman 9 Report post Posted May 11, 2013 Yes, the 2011/2012 Bauer 4 roll pros, not the nexus line.
ty_tanium 1 Report post Posted May 28, 2013 PPF without a doubt. I owned a pair of 4-rolls and now own 4 pairs of PPFs. Its just a better all aorund glove.the fit, the feel, the durability. everything
steelnation248 102 Report post Posted May 28, 2013 I love my PPF's. They're a great feeling glove and have lasted a long time with no durability issues at all.
