Bauer p02/lidstrom/Getzlaf no more ?

Recommended Posts

I've been hearing a lot of rumors lately that most companies are completely dropping the getzlaf pattern. I ordered some blades last year from Bauer and this year they said its only for custom orders now so a minimum of 6 at about 100 a pop. Just want some light on this, tried a P92 and not very sure, used to that long blade so puck handling is off. JR you got any insight ? I just would like to know if I gotta start thinking into a new pattern after 15 yets of this one. I liked the p08 but who knows how long that will even stick around. Any help I appreciate fellas

The P02 and P08 are just about as different as two blades can be. P02/Getzlaf doesn't sell all that well, I know Easton is planning on dumping it, can't confirm or deny the other manufacturers.

It's a 6 and ,The p02 is a 7 but having used all lindstrom style curves from easton warrior and bauer I don't feel a huge difference other than the bauer is slightly shorter in blade length. Also going between a lindstrom type curve (p02) And a drury(p91a) no shooting mechanics had to be changed.

This is a false rumour if I've ever heard one. The stores I've spoken too have said the Getzlaf pattern is the hardest one for them to keep in stock. Not sure who your source is but you should nix him lol.

Depends on the area I guess. But lets just look at most sale and closout sticks...most are going to be 110 flex p91A or p02 curves.

I can confirm that Easton will have the E3 (Hall), E4 (Cammalleri), E5 (Getzlaf) and E7 (Iginla) available for their highest price-point stick in the fall. Looks like there will not be an E5 or E7 at some of the lower price-points.

To me, it looks like the E6 (Parise) and E9 (Heatley) are out completely. I was surprised to not see the E6, just because I know how popular it is with the guys I play with.

Try a p91a plays exactly like p02. Same curve and blade length but different lie

No, it doesn't. Different rocker, toe and curve between the two.

It is usually the worst selling retail blade according to the people I talk to. Shops may have trouble keeping it in stock because they order fewer of them at a time than most other curves.

It would be nice to have a heel curve somewhere between the E5 and E6 available at retail, something like the old Styles pattern. Most people that use a heel curve could live with a compromise like that but the E5 is just too flat on the bottom for a lot of people.

I'm surprised they're limiting the E7 pattern. This is completely anecdotal, but that pattern seems to be the hardest to find in stock both at retail shops and online. That said, maybe they just produce less?

On a side note I'd expect E7 to get a different name on the next stick release, I've noticed Iggy using a Bauer through the playoffs.

I don't think Easton is going with any names on their sticks. The Mako 2 didn't have player names, and I haven't seen anything to indicate the new product will either.
