APX 2 Stick

Recommended Posts

In regards to the actual stick. I was quite impressed with the improvement from apx to apx2. The stick feels lighter and actually is, balance is pretty spot on if you ask me. Shot response is quite good as well. I have never really been a Vapor guy per say but the apx2 could be a good place to start. IMO the shaft is a little too round, I found the shaft rotating in my hands when shooting sometimes. I know that is the shaft shape characteristic for the Vapor but it really didn't work for me. Other than that I would recommend it.

When my apx broke they sent me a nexus1000. Just fyi.

Yeah me too, but that is because they were low on inventory on APX's and it was pre-release for the APX2. Now that the APX2 is released I bet they would send you one of those as a replacement for an APX given they have the pattern/flex in stock.

They wont replace a top of the line stick with a below top of the line stick because they don't want you to see that is an adequate replacement. They want you to get a taste of the new top of the line offering knowing you'll be back for more!

Can anyone compare the APX2 to a Nexus 1000? I've been a Vapor user since the XX, it just suits my style of play best. But when the Nexus came out, and I was able to try my teammate's, I switched. I liked the stiffness of the blade, the pop off the blade and the weight/balance. Well, I snapped my P92L5 last night, and because that pattern is so rare, it's difficult to find a replacement. I would likely have to go through MyBauer and order it custom. But, I did find APX2's in my pattern. Is the APX2 closer to the flex point and feel of the Vapor line, with the blade stiffness and pop of the Nexus? Because that would be a pretty good stick, I think.

Edit: it turns out HM has the Nexus in P92L5. So for roughly the same price, should I go APX2 or Nexus?

Yes, I realize that. My question is has the APX2 been improved to give the same pop off the blade and balance of the Nexus (while still having the low kick and feel characteristics of the APX/Vapor line)?

I switched to the Nexus from the APX because of the hotter shots and better feel of the puck on the blade, plus the better balance. But the Vapor is more to my style of play, I take more wrist/snap shots than slappers and I'm more of a puck distributor, so feel of the puck on the blade is important.

In my hands I find the APX 2 has better puck feel than the Nexus and NXG. The stick fires rockets when I tested it. I'm a snap shot guy and this stick out did all the competition.

@ psu: use the stick that fits you best. Just because you take a certain shit doesn't mean xx stick is for you. You said you liked the nexus better? It works for you better? Then cool why not stick with it especially bc you switched from the other side already. Those guidelines are just that, guidelines. They can be stepped out of.

to my knowledge the nexus is summed up as the apx blade with the nxg shaft geometry minus the ridges. So puck feel may be more of a shaft fitting your hand better. I came from small round shafts and after using the apx for a bit the shaft just felt too small even for me. It would twist omin my hands and I don't have that large of a hand.

But if you're looking for a certain curve as well see who offers a clone in a stick that also fits your needs. Easton normally has squarer shafts and offers a regular low and super low kick in their offerings. The ribcore is supposed to be mid low kick as well.
