Warrior protective

Recommended Posts

Curious how warrior protective is compatible to Bauer, Reebok, CCM and Easton brands?

Reason - my son liked Warrior helmet so much, so he started to prefer warrior over other brands.

Right now we are on the market for new bigger hockey gloves. So he did not like reebok, bauer and said - I WANT warrior.

Are those and other protective really so good or its very subjective?

personally i prefer warrior protective it has always felt better to me and most times i went into it openminded about brands and 9/10 warrior won. you will always get opinions of people who love one company more then another but have him try everything on

other people love warrior, i havent personally purchased any of their protective due mainly to how it has fit me, but i dont think ive seen many complaints, infact a lot of their gear has been highly recommended on these boards, includeing and perhaps especially in terms of their glove.

Ive used their first ever glove the king pin and have loved it for years. I then opted recently to get a franchise custom glove and i love it just as much.

Thank you guys, I started to be more confident with Warrior.

Interesting, online shops have different gloves, in local shop those are absolutely different models too...

Does anybody know the difference between Surge and DT2 and Remix?

model years, i believe. until recently warrior protective has been a bit confusing. usually brands use tiers to establish their protectives rank. warrior just used to use random names.

Due to these confusing names there will now be two lines: AX vs. Covert (same as their sticks: ax1 mid kick vs covert dt1 low kickpoint)

so there AX1 AX2 AX3 vs Covert DT1 DT2 DT3 for the protectives

The AX line will the most protective/classic fit (AX1 gloves will replace the Franchise soon)

Covert will have a tapered fit (surge got replaced by the DT1 gloves)

As far as gloves go, the Warrior 4-rolls are among the best, and the most expensive.

The new AX1 line is very protective, not the lightest pads, but top notch quality pads. I'm sure you'll feel that way once you try them on.

Have you tried the new ax1 gloves? How far off are they from the franchise's?

Also I know warrior franchises were made using the MIA blueprint, changed a but yes but that's their heritage.

can't speak to warrior gloves, but I plan on being buried with my warrior projekt elbows. most mobile elbow I've ever tried on, does not affect rand of motion at all. BRING BACK PROJEKT LINE!!

I agree with you on the Projekt elbows and the line in general - both the white and grey and blue projekt elbow pads were super comfortable and mobile. The grey and blue ones are just more protective - I find they're the best elbows I've ever used. I'm currently using a pair that I picked up last spring and have a backup pair in the closet I just bought a month ago on clearance. The AX1's are very nice pads and are even more protective, but are definitely beefier - great if you're playing in a competitive full contact game, but for beer league ice and roller hockey the projekts are more than sufficient.

I'm also using a Projekt girdle that I love and also have a backup pair of those in the closet that I snagged on eBay for a good price. In addition I have the 2010 Projekt gloves and shin pads. The gloves are the most protective pair I've used and I also like the fit. The shin pads are comfortable, but you do have to avoid taping the side knee flap and removable liners would be nice - those issues were addressed in the 2012 versions (the side knee flap is smaller, and the liner is removable). I'm thinking of grabbing a pair of 2012 Projekt shins while I can even though my 2010 versions are still in good shape.

I understand why Warrior streamlined things - its expensive to research, produce and market multiple lines, but I do lament the loss of the Projekt line and definitely recommend picking any of that protective up on clearance while you can. The Dynasty AX line is high quality stuff with great liners and strapping, but its definitely a different product then the lighter more svelt Projekt line. It's a more traditional fit with more protection, but also more beef. A great option for those that like the Jofa/RBK pro pads as they're cheaper with a better liner and a more comfortable strapping system, but seem to be at least as protective and have a similar shape/fit.

i'm using the white projekts. how does the mobility of the gray/blues compare to the white. I would imagine you would have to sacrifice a little mobility for a little more protection.

I have an old pair of Warrior Hustler pants and they are bombproof. Again, as others have said, not the lightest but they are solid. I have taken pucks in the thigh and felt nothing.

In my opinion, yes, they're really that good. You can find out why I think so by reading my review here: http://www.modsquadhockey.com/forums/index.php/topic/62127-warrior-projekt-elbow-pads-2012-grey-and-blue/

i'm using the white projekts. how does the mobility of the gray/blues compare to the white. I would imagine you would have to sacrifice a little mobility for a little more protection.

The cap is harder and deeper and there's slightly more bulk in the forearm protection, but the mobility isn't decreased. In my opinion they took a good pad (the white elbows) and made it an amazing pad. I used to have the white projekts, but prefer the blue and grey ones because they protect my elbows better, don't ever slip and are just as mobile/comfortable in use. See the review above for more details (I also reviewed the white ones).

No problem. They're definitely worth trying on.
