bauer 8090 jr.

Recommended Posts

i was looking at the new bauer website and it looks like they are going to be making the 8090 in junior sizes. this is good when you have small wide feet like mine but anyways does anyone know when the junior model will be in the store and the approximate price?

thanx

I'm not sure, but don't most new products introduced this time of year hit retail around mid december to early january? I dunno.......let's see what else I can pull out of my butt.

I have a sneaking, unjustified, supsicion that not many LHS's will stock junior 8090's because I think flashier skates(vectors, vapors) sell much better amongst younger skaters, and the 8090 is a pretty traditional looking skate.

we sell skates based on fit, not looks in the shop i work at. And weight at this point is a better selling point than looks at this point in the market. If its comfortable and light, kids will buy it.

I'm not saying that anyone shoooould stock skates based on looks, but around here, lots of the munchkins gotta have the newest pair of space boots out.

But I hear the weight thing. When I was kid, I went for the lightest everything.

Not all kids are as handicapped as you guys take them for, I'm still in junior skates and I am 14..

Tried on 703's, 705's, XX's, Vector Pro's, Pro Tacks, and XX's fit my feet the best, it's not cool to think that just because someone has a top of the line skate that they bought it solely because it is light/cool looking.

You never tried anything but the top end skates, so you aren't really disproving anything.

I also was looking more for protection and weight than looks, that is what I was trying to show by saying that I tried on 703's/705's/Pro Tacks, which in MY opinion aren't as flashy looking as XX's or Vector Pro's. Honestly, if 8090's were available to me in junior sizes, I would have no prob. trying them on and if they fit and felt right, buying them. I was just trying to show that I don't really care for looks as more of a factor than everything else.

If the XX fit, don't bother with the 8090s as they fit much differently.

I am 47 and fit into a junior skate. but need a wide boot and the supremes are too narrow for my feet even in a ee but the 8090 are a wider fitting skate and they also offer more support because if i get a lower model it breaks down too fast. the best advantage of being able to fit in a junior for me is the price :P

I've been able to put 3 or 4 people in jr skates around here and a couple got mad at me for telling them they're in the wrong size. I don't know if it's ego or what but for some reason they don't want to hear that they should be in a jr skate.

I got you, I haven't tried on 8090s and until and if I hit size 6 I probably won't. My XX's fit perfectly, I could wear them around my house if I needed to, they're really fitted to my feet.

some people dont look on the bright side and accept that is who they are, everybody needs a break as far as equipment (pricewise) for hockey is concerned

Those people should have been glad that they fit into junior skates, they could have saved a ton of money.

how is the 8090 fit diff from teh xx fit?

I was talking to JR about this a few days ago and I believe he said the fit of the 8090's were a little bit wider than the XX.
