guitarfreek92 7 Report post Posted February 5, 2014 is this unavoidable? or is there something that can be done to eliminate this issue. currently i use an oakley pro straight and leave it close to my face but loose so i can adjust it to off my face when on the bench. should i try moving it further from my body? or that doesnt matter. Vet88 674 Report post Posted February 5, 2014 For those that don't have an anti fog coating, I found that a smear of the most eco friendly dish washing liquid you can find does the trick. Smear it on then buff it off with a tissue or soft cloth. You get 3 to 4 games relief. I keep a small bottle (old eye dropper bottle, you only need a drop or two each time) of it in my bag and now don't have any fogging issues.
SCOMPL 14 Report post Posted February 5, 2014 Oakley's installation instructions say to move the visor as far out (away) as possible. This helps to keep your body heat and breath from fogging the visor and gives you a clearer, undistorted view. I have an Oakley Pro Straight as well and have never had even the slightest fogging. I spray it with the Oakley AFR anti-fog spray after every game as well. Also, as a warning, you should only use the manufacturer's recommend anti-fog/cleaning spray. Using an incompatible substance can actually remove the protective coating, permanently damage the visor, and cause it to fog.

I used to use a straight small and didn't have fogging issues as long as I kept it as far out as I could get it.
chrisehyoung 14 Report post Posted February 6, 2014 The best thing I ever used on my visor was lemon Pledge furniture polish. I heard it from an OHL player that that's what their equipment manager was using so I tried it. Worked like a charm. Made my helmet smell nice too.

Seano 4 Report post Posted February 6, 2014 I used lemon pledge on my oakley visor after the coating started chiping off. It worked great! I was nice having subtle lemon scent everywhere you went :pI stopped using it after i replaced the oakley with my new bauer. I dont want to risk rubbing off the anti-fog coating. Im using the elite anti-fog and it works well. I find that I get better result when I use the spray before and after the game.
cjm305 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2014 Try tipping the angle up just a slight bit, and a tiny bit further out. Also take a DRY small towel onto the bench. Keep it as DRY as possible, emphasis on the DRY part, and use it to quickly and very lightly run across the visor every couple of shifts. Works great for me... boo10 323 Report post Posted February 26, 2014 Being the cynic that I am, I have to point out that it is in the best interests of Oakley for them to tell you that using anything other than their spray will damage your visor. They are trying to protect their revenue stream. I'm not sure about things like furniture polish, but to my knowledge, there is nothing in an eco-friendly dish soap that will strip an anti-fog coating. I could see potential validity in a claim that it would mess with the optics of the visor, but not anti-fog coating. I wonder if anyone knows the chemical composition of the Oakley spray?
