Question about CCM crazy light shoulder pads - Bicep Guard, adjustable?

Recommended Posts

I'm just curious about the ccm shoulder pads because I've seen on a lot of websites that say that the bicep guard is adjustable.. Are they just referring to the horizontal strap on lower part of the bicep guard where you tighten them, or did CCM actually release an updated version of the pad where you can lower the bicep guard down a bit??

I had actually purchased the pads on boxing day of this past year since I know they are extremely light and I've heard such great things. But when I got home i noticed the bicep guard isn't adjustable, and they really didn't seem to cover much... I ended up taking them back because I wasn't sure if I would get that great of protection with them

That's interesting. The pair of CL pads I had about a year ago were adjustable. So I would assume they all are now. Maybe you got a VERY early pair and their changed them soon after? No idea. But the answer is yes.

The bicep pads on my CL's are not adjustable. They're connected to the shoulder cap by two elastic straps.

That's how the ones that I got were. They really didn't come down too far on the ones I bought (medium). My main issue is i use really old Junior elbow pads which are pretty small but pretty comfortable. My other shoulder pads have adjustable biceps which cover up to top of elbow pads so its not an issue with those. But with CL's theres a pretty big gap and although I don't play hitting anymore, I play fairly high level mens rec and would rather have more protection from shots if I can help it

Yeah weird... I see alot of posts/Specifications on gear websites that say its adjustable, but the ones I got were not, and clearly I wasn't mistaken as the person above also has ones that were not. They were on sale for $129 i think on boxing day. I guess I'll look around at other LHS and see if I can find the adjustable ones.

Anyone know a website I can buy it off which would for sure be the adjustable type?

Mine had velcro on the strap that held the bicep pad on so the length could be adjusted.

For what its worth, mine came from HockeyMonkey.

EDIT: OH! I just realized... the ones I bought from HM were the Midnight LE version. Maybe that's why mine had adjustable bicep pads?

Yeah maybe they realized more people preferred adjustable and they made the change. The one's I had bought just had the elastic straps that could stretch a bit but couldn't adjust down. Even If you pushed them down they just ended up pulling back up if you move your arms at all, and end up really only covering a couple inches past the shoulder cap... Anyways I appreciate the input, I at least know now that if I can't find adjustable ones in retail shops that I can always buy the LE ones online.

Mine are adjustable and not the LE.

Same as mine. I have only seen the adjustable ones in my area. I remember when they first came out and JR saying they were not adjustable after I saw they were in the store, so I just figured maybe I don't know what they meant by adjustable... I don't argue with JR, I just figure I'm wrong.

My Lhs had mix of both versions when I bought mine. The shape of the bicep is slightly different on the two as well.

well that pretty much confirms that they must have re-released it.. Unless you're mistaking them for the crazy strong pads. They do look pretty similar
