Close eyelets modication

Recommended Posts

Hi, when im tying my skates they look like they are really tight and the eyelets are coming very close together and feels like the boot is wrapping around my foot!

I use custom skates with a width D as i have skinny feet and ankles

I was just wondering what modification for custom that i could done to stop this happening?

Thanks

ps i have a picture but not sure how to upload it

Having a boot that wraps nice and tight around your feet are a good thing, and that wrap is what'll get you the best fit.

That being said, the boot might be too deep for you, so that should be addressed in your next pair of custom skates.

Either that or you're wearing a boot too big which is causing this "eyelet tightness".

Are you getting them done through a shop with a guy who knows how to do his measurements correctly?

its only the top 2 eyelets doing this. skates are perfect size, its just my feet and legs are skinny!

if i want my top 2 eyelets moving say half or quarter inch back, is there a specific name for this?

I mean, looking back on my Makos and One.9s, the top two eyelets are pretty damned close together. And I love it. It gives me so much wrap. Try going into a store and getting fitted properly.

There is no one in the country I live in that fits skates.

Some people like to the eyelets like that, some don't! Personal preference!

Has anyone ever had there eyelets moved back or forth?

I vaguely remember a thread where someone ordered a pair of custom skates and specified top eyelets that were a bit further back. Maybe it would turn up in a search of this forum if you knew what terms to search for.

Edit: This is not the example I remember but I found it in a search:

They would cut back the lacing (which is an optical illusion - the eyelets stay in the same place, but the material in front of it is cut) or what else can be done is a request for no eyelets on top, and then the store will punch them themselves.

Having too much wrap on the top eyelets inhibits forward flex and isn't something desired.
