How the hell did you get that perk Cavs? It's usually a Discount if you work at someplace, isn't it?

Unless you put them in your hockey bag and left ;) :P

Just kidding (I hope) ;)

I just ran into a problem with my skates!

I wore them for the first time this morning at my practice, they skates felt pretty good, they're very stiff, but they'll losen up with a couple more ice times so i'm not too worried about that.

But when i stepped on the ice at first i went for a quick skate, and when i came to stop, it felt as if i had no edge on the inside of my left skate, so i went to the bench to check it out, and sure enough, i had no edge, so i switched back to my XX's for the rest of the practice, then took my skates to my LHS after practice to get them sharpened again, because i figured that since it was the first sharpening that it just wasn't done too well. When i went back to pick up my skates, one of the staff gave me my skates and said that it was a good thing that i brought them back in because the whole lightspeed holder was warped!! he said that he had to remove all except one of the front rivets, and re insert them and straighten the blade. I hope that this problem was just a quick fix and will not reappear on my skates, and hopefully not on anyone elses.

Canhockey7, sounds like deja vu all over again. Bauer had a big problem with crooked blades at the start of the XX run. For anyone buying these XXX's, make sure you sight down the blades and do not take them if they are warped. If the rivet holes are in the wrong place, and that caused the warping, I am not sure what you can do to fix it. New rivets will still be in the wrong place, as the holes are already drilled.

I"m not 100% sure of what he did, but the guy that did it is the guy that i get to do all of my equipment tweaks, i took a look after i got them back, and they looked fine, but we'll see how things hold up with the rivets, he did tell me that if there is a reoccuring problem, that he could probably get me a brand new pair at no cost due to warranty.

Probably?...(at the price of those things they ought to fly you via private jet to the factory for a personal re-fitting, and make sure you get to join the "mile high club" on route...... :D)

I am sorry, but these constant stories about crooked holders, boot outsoles coming apart, and rivots coming loose on all these high end skates makes me seeth. With all the money that is being spent on the development of this "new technology" there must be none left over for the QA department....where the first money needs to be spent in a lot of cases.

Yeah, the quality assurance at these hockey manufacturers is pretty lacking! How hard would it be for them to swipe a guage across the blades of every pair of $500 skates they ship???

But it also really makes you think about the "Pro" shops that we buy our products from. Some are good and either do not let the skates out of their shops, or gladly take back the products when something is manufactured wrong. Others stone-wall you and hope you go away!

Its buyer beware! Don't pull out the credit card without doing your own instpection. If we get a few more reports of XXX blades warped, I would also then add: don't buy them online where you can not see them first!

About ONLINE Sales of XXX's. I think that an enterprising ONLINE seller that would advertise that he checks and certifies all blades for warping before shipping them would get a LOT of business!

Damn.

I've been considering trying to get rid of a brand new pair of 7.5 R width G-35s that I should be getting in the next few days (should I get them, they will be posted in the "Sell" section; PM if interested beforehand) and going the way of the Vapors. Now all this talk of shoddy work, even if I plan on having t'blades installed, has me very concerned. I had a number of pairs of XXs over the past few years and never really had any serious issues, but I'm not sure if I want to push my luck...
