the rivets at the heel of my skates are loose, so my holder is sliding back and worth. Its sunday and there is no shops open that can do it, and i have a game tonight, so my question is, is there anyway to tighten them at home? and if so, how would i do it? Thanks in advance

Try a quick fix, like glue maybe or 5 min. epoxy?

Do that and it isn't coming out without being drilled.

How did you just notice it? I would have thought you would have seen it coming as all the rivets don't just suddenly get loose. Sounds like poor planning is going to cost you a game on the bench

I can't imagine a shop not being open at all on Sunday. At least a pro shop in a rink should be open if there are games scheduled. I'm in my shop right now.

you don't tighten a rivet, you replace it

The guy where I bought my skates has tightened the rivets 3 times and replaced them probably 3 times. Yesterday he mangled the sole trying to get a rivet out. For some reason he isn't using a copper rivet on the back two like every company does standard.

I've been in probably six or seven times now to have these skates fixed and I bought them around three months ago.

Anything anybody can recommend to tell the guy next time I'm in?

Chadd and JR, I tighten rivets all the time with no problems. As long as the "teeth" aren't rusting or broken off, the rivet can be re-pressed. Actually, I find I have to do this more often with Mission skates than with other brands. I think it's something about the insole material, it's a harder plastic than other brands, and the rivets don't seem to grip into it as tightly. I'll tighten the rivets and usually flatten them using the same base you'd use to install coppers. Works like a charm...

How long could it possibly take them to replace a single rivet? I could understand having to remount the entire holder and all the rivets on both boots and whatnot, but you just need one rivet done.

By the time i'm typing this post, it's already very late Sunday night so your game should be over. How did your game go, were you able to play?

Replace the rivots with a Graf RMS type mounting, or equivalent.....use Locktite to insure the screws do not move.

LOL...

I do the same thing on plastic insoles. You're exactly right, they don't sink in... ;)

just a tip, if youre chasis is loose, and theres no way to fix it, dont even bother playing. last night was pretty frustrating,

That's not really fair. I played on mine for 1-2 months with the holder loose. The front left side of my skate was completely out. Best idea is to get it re-rivoted, but you can play on it.
