Skate punching?

Recommended Posts

I think he meant how far can you punch without tearing it, or how far can you punch that area without it pulling away from the plastic toe cap and leaving a hole. Thats how I understood it anyway, just tryin to help.

I just got new 692's and they fit really well, just the edge(beginning) of the toe cap could be a bit wider, so this is a place to punch them out.

I have to go to a shoemaker since my lhs doesnt have such a machine anymore (will be the same anyways).

But there are some things i have to know so that i can tell them to the shoemaker.

Do i have to unlace the boot or is it ok to make the laces just very loose?

Does the shoemaker have to heat the area up ?

And how long should one boot take ?

If theres anything else which is important and he has to keep in mind..

TELL ME :)

Thanks !

If you're trying to punch the plastic of the toe cap you may have some issues.

I was talking about the area in front of the toecap.

True. The cap can be heated and "remoulded" so to speak. I've punched them out before but you risk weakening the plastic and separating it. I once punched one out so far you could see inside the skate from the outside. The customer gave me the go ahead, he just wanted the pain relieved without having to buy a new pair. He was happy in the end so that's all that mattered.
