Snap and Wrist Shots

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I've been using a warrior 85 flex henrique for roller hockey (shooting pucks: pro shot, rocket puck) for a little white now. I've found various success with the different variations, DT3, DT 4 LT, and most recently a DT 1 on clearance. I'm actually kind of struggling with the DT1, I'm firing them over the net quite a bit with wristers and my snap shots are not nearly as accurate as they used to be with previous itterations of the stick. It might even be technique but I'd rather find a sticks that works for me rather than doing little more than small tweaks to my shot.

I've considered switching to a different curve, flex, brand or maybe even going back to a lower quality warrior. I'm sure I'll figure it out but was just curious if anyone else had similar experiences with this. Also, has anyone tried the new toe curves that are becoming really popular? They look crazy but I'm kind of afraid to buy one just to had it and exagerate my problem, ha. Thanks!

I have a Bauer APX P08 Oveckin and a Tron-X Heat P92, Both of which have a good hook.. The P08 has a really open face which I like

I used to have a p08 and it was super fun to play with, but if its a close game at the end and I NEED to pick a corner, I can't be using that.

I play roller on an outdoor court, with a roller "ball" so the curve almost doesn't even matter. Generally, the less curve the better since it's so easy to lift the ball.

I don't know how big you are or how much you are loading up on the stick for the shot. Lets assume you load up really well on the stick then the issue could be the DT1, it has a lot more flex through the bottom of the shaft which means the blade twists more as you load it up (this is covered in the warrior stick thread). The DT2 and lower end Warrior sticks are a lot stiffer through the bottom of the shaft and hence the blade does not twist as much. Try a DT2 if you can find one and if your shooting comes right then that is your answer.

A flatter curve would help a little but loft and direction are really down to technique and been able to alter your shooting style to suit the stick / curve you are using.
