Stick Bags

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I was just wondering how many of you own a stick bag to carry your expensive hardware. Are they neccessary or good at protecting sticks or is it just another thing that Hockey companies are trying to make money off of that you don't really need?

Thanks for the help.

If you travel they're worth it but if it's just carrying them from house to car to rink then you can get away with nothing at all or just wrapping some tape around them.

I have always hated them. I think they are useless. But that is just my opinion. If you have an expensive care and dont want scratcehes and paint marks, there not a bad idea, but keep it in the car. We call em fag bags around here. Those, and bags on wheels

I use one so the waxed tape doesn't leave marks on the inside of my car.

Same here. My last car had a gray interior and I got a bunch of tape marks in it from throwing my sticks in the back. A simple $15 investment has eliminated those concerns with my current vehicle. So in my case it's not so much to protect my sticks as it is to protect the stuff around them.

car reason here too. i bought i new car last year and i didn't want my sticks messing up my interior. for $15 bucks it was well worth it. other than that though, i probably wouldn't have one.

I use one, it was a great buy for me. Helps lots when travelling and taking them on airplanes its a breeze rather than using one of the plastic ones.

I think they're useless. A few kids on my high school team and they just got made fun of. Just carry them, unless like other people say it's for protection of other things.

Off-topic but a kid on my team doesn't even wheel his wheel bag his daddy does it for him and also helps him undress and dress and ties his skates and everything for him. But I don't think you need those stick bags unless it's for the car reason. I just carry my sticks but if I had an excessive amount to take to games I would tape them like Mack said.

I the only reason I can see them are for car reasons and for traveling. It is probably good for traveling so you can carry more than one stick at ease.

I've heard that if you use the plastic ones that they give you and the sticks break, that the airlines aren't responsible for them. But if you use your own bag, then they will pay for them.

Jeez how old are you? My dad did that for me when I was like 5 and just starting...

Wow. I thought I was going to get flamed for asking this question. I'm glad to see that there was reasoning behind my logic of just saving the $20 and carrying my sticks. I completely understand the car reason though. I have a mini van so its not going to do anything to by throwing it in the back.

I use one too. Keeping the leather nice in my mustang is a lot more important then looking cool. Plus I can think of a lot gayer things then carrying your sticks in a bag.

Yeah if you have a wheelie bag around here you automatically have to have a locker boxing match against someone on the team, and thats for pretty much the unwritten rule for all of my league. We call the wussie-wheels, lol.

they're also less likely to get stolen when your stuff is just sitting in the lobby before games.

ive had a synergy stolen before when i was taking a piss and it sucks balls.

For the wheelie bag thing, There's only two people on my team who don't have wheels, me and another kid. The bottom would get really dirty going from your car to the dressing room so I carry. Also, those backpacks are nasty.

I would have liked a stick bag this winter. Carrying sticks on the subway is not fun at all.

I'm 13 and that kid is 12 or something I dunno (he looks like a five year old though). It looks pretty stupid when his dad does everything for him and also he's about 4 feet tall and that doesn't help. That's one of the many reasons why he has no friends...

When I just go to my local house league games, I just carry my sticks by hand(only bring 2). When I travel or play in a local tournament, I'll bring my stick bag for 2 reasons: 1) I usually bring more than 2 sticks since I'm playing harder(i.e; shooting harder) 2) The rink gets so crowded, I do it for security reasons. Your sticks are less likely to get stolen when they don't SEE what you have.
