Anyone picking up a new Bauer Supreme 1s this month?

Recommended Posts

I made the long shot attempt to see if Bauer would give me a 1S instead of my 1N as a replacement so I could try it but they said no because it wasn't officially for sale yet. Just curious to see if anyone has their eye on one especially now that they changed the kick point after such a long time. $300.00 for a stick is hard to swallow when I have a brand new 1N on the way so I won't be unless that breaks too and I somehow grow to hate it haha

I just broke my 1n was impressed with durability 3 months and probably 30 ice times. Great stick that I loved but I don't know if I want to buy another with the 1s being released and trying that.

Anyone use one yet some how?

I had excellent luck with my first 1N. I thought the stick was one of the best I'd ever used so I went MyBauer custom with one. 5 weeks later the stick showed up and whatta ya know the heel was cracked after 2 games...

The first 1N I used for an easy 10 games and nothing but cosmetics and I mean CHUNKS taken out by skates from poke checks. I have a new one coming from warranty so hopefully I love that as much because if not I'm going to have to stick with my Reckoner or move on to the 1S.

I'm going to give one a go.

I'm confused though. Chase from the Warehouse suggests that the stick has a thinner taper in the Supreme 1S video but the description on the site suggests the opposite?

Personally, I love the thinner taper in the 1X and would love to see it used across the entire range.

Now, IW quote 400 grams in their specs yet Hockey Monkey say 440 grams. Can anyone confirm?

If it has a thinner taper and weighs 400 grams, they're moving in the right direction!

As for the blade, why are they not using the AeroSense 2 Core! This blade feels amazing on the 1X!

I was really unimpressed with the damp, dead and non responsive feel of the PowerSense 2 Core in the 1N's I purchased.

the blade on the 1x is pingy, its designed for puck feel and does the job well. the 1N and 1S are damped to allow you to load up the stick better.

if you want puck feel over shot power then go for a 1x over a 1n or 1s

I watched that video and chase said something like thinner and stiffer taper than ever before. Like when Bauer said that the 1X loads whatever percent quicker than the APX2 he threw out a statistic of 14 percent more stored energy and 20 percent more returned energy than the mx3?

Here's a picture of the taper

I don't think you'll have to worry about weight with this stick, this line has always been super light but the having owned the MX3, 1X and 1N though the 1X has a nice feel when sending and receiving passes it does not give me that return on shots. Personally I don't think the blade on the 1N is dead. Softer but not dead and softer blades help us shoot better.

I will never understand the thought process that comes from " I loved my 1N, so I'm going to try a 1S ". They are very different, so I don't understand why one would spend the money to try something they are not likely going to enjoy nearly as much. Most of the time all this does is reaffirm your love for your old standby.

I don't know if I'd go along with this entirely, i.e. for me it was the blind testing of sticks (all 3 top sticks blacked out - MX3 which was disappointing, 1x which was ok, 1n was awesome) at the Bauer Experience store that got me to even consider Bauer sticks again after having had only bad experiences with those in the past. I always thought I needed as low a kickpoint as possible (as I "loved" on my older Warriors), and now I'm using a 1N and a V9 amd will certainly buy some more 1Ns going forward...

That was also my point... Hit up a shooting booth or a demo event. Most places nowadays offer that. That kind of money on the table and some people just buy whatever the new stick is- Doesn't surprise me one bit when all too all too often they player is disappointed. You are likely speaking, from your personal experience which I understand. I am just speaking for what I see a lot of as a whole... It was just a generalization that I happen to see a lot of as a whole in this sport.

I think marketing has a lot to do with convincing people they need a certain things which is the point of it.

Oh yes I do need to get the puck on net as quick as possible! Better get that QR1!

But I don't take slapshots really... Better stay away from Bauer Supreme

The stick is accurate?! Wait isn't it supposed to be me that is accurate? That 1N sounds great haha

Guess it depends what u have also used in the past. For me one of my fav sticks was the total one nxg. The mx3 was disappointing but since a new release for the line comes up you wonder if they get the feel of an older version again with updates. I've used supremes since the one95 and my first switch was to the 1n away from that line as the mx3 was so average. I used it but didn't love it

The 1n is a great stick. And maybe the flex profile is my true fit since I loved it so much but that past use of supreme puts me curious to the 1s.

I also like the squared corners better and tac spiral. Although the 1n is better corners then the 1x which is just awful for me. ( feels like ur holding a sphered shaft ) the 1n isn't quite as much squared up as I like.

So there's always reasons. I'm not one who just buys the next best thing I've always been a supreme guy or mid kicker

I had excellent luck with my NXGs, I never really liked any MX3 that I had to be totally honest. Good but not great, forgettable. The NXG was the stick that made me get into the TotalOne line since the previous Nexus line hadn't really clicked for my but maybe my shooting has evolved but I like the 1N too much to just put it aside.

I can't believe how hard some guys are on sticks

Ive been using my CCM RBZ 130 and 30k for easy 40+ and havent broke them and still in pretty good shape (RBZ is kinda breaking down but still ok)

I actually havent broken a stick in quite a few years, I find they wear out before they break (unless I have a 35yr old temper tantrum and break it on the boards, LOL)

regarding the 1S, according to what its suppose to do, it wouldn't be a "fit" for me

but then again the 1X was suppose to "fit" me and its terrible IMO

really wish I could try out the 1N and 1S on ice, even for like a 1/2 hour stick and puck, but its just not possible

makes buying sticks hard which is also why I buy mid priced sticks

if it doesn't work out, I'm not out $300

sorta frustrating ....

You are definitely right. Sadly marketing does work. As you age you learn to tune alot of that noise out. You know what works for you and you tend to stick with it. Unfortunately the younger crowd tends to fall for this more than any other segment. If anything I would like to get to a place of understanding that if you like / prefer a midflex stick then if you wanted to try something new you would try another mid flex stick from another vendor. It just always boggled my mind to watch customers bounce back and forth from Low Kick to High Kick or Mid Kick and then listen to their thoughts on why they didn't like XYZ stick.

Before I knew anything about kick points, shaft corners, blade softness, etc whatever, my favorite stick was the SE16. I wish I could get like 5 of them to store in my closet.

Now I'm happy with my QR1. They're coming down in price some places, and they're available cheap on PSH, so I'll stick with that. I used to have the TotalOne and liked it, but not enough to make me buy the 1s.

Depends how u shoot I guess I can clock a 90 mph slapper... So my sticks don't last

I was surprised though the 1n lasted 3 months and my sticks never do so durability has been a selling point on that stick for me.

I also play 3-4 times per week

If Bauer continues that durability they will take the market for sure

where do you typically break your sticks?

where do you typically break your sticks?

Always mid shaft and then randomly I broke it just above the blade on the 1n which is really weird.

And it was a clapper

I always watch to see where guys break sticks. If they break in the kick point then you are generally doing it right. It's when guys blow through blades when I get concerned. They are either overshafted ( too stiff a stick ) or the stick has a crappy blade.

Don't think I've ever broke a blade always a shaft

But shaft above blade on 1n interesting but I'm

Guessing I was using it with a lot of quick snaps

My blades are usually what goes for me. Heel cracks or hosel snaps. I pretty much just bail on a stick if I feel like it's on it's way out.

I had a 1S in my hands in store and it felt really nice for what it's worth. Definitely going to play stiffer than the flex rating just from store flexing

I hope the 1S does not feel as hard as the MX3 and NXG did. I use a Tacks (P19, 75 Flex) for over a year now (yeah, still the very same stick, never broke one in 4 years) but it looks chewed and if the 75 flex 1S feel good, I might pick one up.
