Torch Hockey Knob

Recommended Posts

Ridiculous.......that thing is huge! (Thats what she said.) :p

But seriously, even sword handles get smaller not bigger and their is a reason for that. No matter what other tech is in a butt end, the pinky side of your hand gets smaller when making a fist. Which makes it easier to squeeze harder, in turn adding more strength to your grip. The more open your hand, the less actual strength in gripping something. More grip equals more control of said object wether it be a sword, bat, or hockey stick, etc..

I think they are trying to mimic the axe-handle baseball bat. But, if a skinnier end is needed, maybe they need those plugs that look like the goalie Curtis Curves on the end of the stick instead.

I haven't used the 'original' torch knob, but I replicated one shaving  a wood extension and tape.

First impressions: What I really like is that you get a grip and support for your pinky finger, because the torch knob gets smaller in that area. Normally I play pinky off with "standard" butt-ends, and my pinky finger acts like a useless appendix (in comparison). Somehow it feels like i can use my whole upper hand now for a better pull motion when shooting.

Will further test it in training and games...

Looks pretty interesting, but I can not see that it improves anything unless you dig the look of it. Yes it thins out in the pinky area and it is more rounded, but does this really improves anything or it is just another gimmick for you to buy and later realize that it does not do anything for your game? In Russia they have a saying, " плохому танцору, яйца мешают ". It is kind of difficult to translate that in english that the proverb preserves its original "punch", but literal translations would be "to a bad dancer, he is impeded by his own balls". Stop looking into solutions to compensate for the lack of skill. Skill is mastered through practice, not by throwing money at it.

well then what is STX doing with their new stick angled underside profile.  Yes, I know its a gimmock too.

Back in the 70's a Flyer player had a unique end to his sherwood sticks that had to be custom from sherwood.  This makes some sense when you see the end I am thinking of, but this takes it to a whole different level.  $30 is a littl too much for me to say...lets give it a go...I am intrigued, but it has me thinking of what can I do with a wooden end plug myself for a fraction of the fee.

I really don't understand the point of it and the pricing is ludicrous. I also imagine they didn't design it to be lightweight either. I'll stick to my normal taped end.
