GIRDLE Help

Recommended Posts

So, I was playing last week and I took a shot directly beside my cup. For anyone efficient in anatomy, this is the location of femoral artery, femoral nerve, and various muscles/tendons associated with your hip flexor. Worst pain I have felt in a long time, and I am really hoping to prevent this in the future. I am curious if anyone knows of another option to protect this area? My Warrior Projekt girdle barely has any protection there. I have thought of updating to a Bauer NXG girdle (fan of girdles), hoping for more protection. I have looked for padded jocks, but it seems they focus solely on hip protection. Looking at goalie cups, that common pad surrounding the cup would be perfect, but I would prefer not to be skating around in a bulky goalie cup. Any suggestions? I feel this was a freak accident, and I was hit perfectly in a bad spot, but the pain makes me cringe. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Adam

I have a projekt that I use when training on my own or coaching. For game time a Rbk 9k, lots of padding in the area you are after plus the leg pads have adjustable heights so you could layer more padding on top by pulling them higher. imho the 9k remains the gold standard for girdles. The CCM pro girdle is pretty good also. I stopped using Bauer girdles after the TO so can't comment on what their latest lines may be like. Also never used Eagle, Easton, Talon or others.

I have been contacting a guy selling a 9k girdle since I have heard how great they are. My reasoning for looking at the bauer was solely a great price on clearance. 67$ for the bauer compared to the 120 ish for the 9k. I will definitely have to do more research.

I wear the Project girdle, with the Bauer 37.5 padded Elite jock pants underneath. I could have sworn that the jock pants have an array of Flex-ORB padding there (well, 2 arrays- one on each side), but in all of the pictures that I am now looking at online, I am not seeing this piece (that I must have been imagining as having existed). I have been wearing these jock pants for awhile, I just never did a thorough analysis of coverage (even though I admittedly stand in front of shots). I guess I am not smart. Anyway, I will check them when I get home. Between the medium density foam in the girdle, plus the Flex-Orb, I figured I was covered in this area, but now I am definitely second guessing. I also wear a Reebok 10K jock, but I do not think that the jock extends to that area.

You may want to go to the store and look at the Bauer MX3 girdle, if you have to have a girdle (I kind of do now, I cannot see going back to pants, too cumbersome). It is hard to tell in the pics and videos, if the foam in that area is substantial, or just little pieces of LD/ MD foam that would not slow down a shot much. The MX3 is reportedly beefier than the NXG (for twice the price).

I play in an upper division adult league (watch out, we have an all star here !!) so I figured the projekt would do fine. I made it a long while without any problems, but the last few days have been rough on the girdle. First was the puck to the soft spot outside of my cup (the girdle does make a weak attempt at protecting their) , and I took a blade end directly between the small pads in the inner thigh. Looking at the girdle, it really only protects the direct front, and back. I am not sure if the 9K girdle thigh padding wraps around the thighs. Has anybody used the projekt girdle along with either Bauer girdles, or the RBK 9k ? Not sure if its worth it to spend the money on a better girdle, or think outside the box and beef up the projekt.

Turns out I was wrong- my Bauer Elite padded pants do not have the Flex Orb array that I thought existed. I have been imagining that I have been protected, it seems.

Thanks buzz, that was something i was considering, but couldn't find a good pad. Those could be cheaper than buying a whole new girdle. I just got back from the docs, and I have a bruised pelvis, and some after pain from hitting the nerves. Nothing major, but worth the 30 bucks to never think about it again.

I have all 3 (for Bauer up to the TO girdle but not the NXG or MX3). The 9k is the only girdle to offer protection in this area. The thigh wrap is cut slightly higher on the inside thigh and the main body part of the girdle has separate pieces of plastic / foam sewn into it that cover the upper portion of the inner thigh.
