wickedslappah 6 Report post Posted June 27, 2016 Flagship Mission Skate versus Flagship Bauer skate. I am an advanced skater currently rolling in the now way-defunct Mission Axiom T9s from the Axiom line 4-5 years ago. The skates are done virtually unusable and I need a new pair. Always been a Mission guy but the price difference between the 1Xr and Ds1 has be confused. 950 for 1XRs 650 for DS1 Thats a huge difference. Is there a tangible difference in the stiffness/response and speed/overall performance the 1xr wold give you to justify that price gap? thoughts?
althoma1 574 Report post Posted June 27, 2016 They won't fit the same - if you like the fit of the Mission T9's (based on the Supreme last) then you should stick with Mission. The 1XRs use curve composite so yes they'll be stiffer than the DS1 skates which use Nylon Tech Mesh, but stiffness shouldn't trump fit. The DS1's are still stiff, but use more traditional materials in the quarter panels. Mission is coming out with a new model in October that will use curve composite material (I actually noticed a few guys playing in them when I reffed in Mississauga last Wed night) - it's called the NLS1 and there's a thread on it here. When that skate launches, or just before, you should see the DS1 being discounted.
Wicked3Aussie 68 Report post Posted June 27, 2016 I went with the 1XRs recently. The stiffness is one thing but all the little things like the lacing system, 37.5, speed plates.....etc Was an easy choice for me.
gokdog 11 Report post Posted June 27, 2016 If you really like the Mission DS1, expect a price reduction very soon, as the new model NLS1 will be out sometime this summer, early fall? My son really like the fit of the Mission line, and the Supreme line :) strangely enough, so we are deciding between new and old.
wickedslappah 6 Report post Posted July 9, 2016 Just wanted to bump this real quick. I am mainly curious as to how one justifies the $300 price gap between these skates and why somebody would choose one skate over another? Do most pro guys who are Mission/Bauer prefer one over the other?

Do most pro guys who are Mission/Bauer prefer one over the other? The 1XR is a more technologically advanced skate. Composite boot with the injected eyelet system, Kryptonium frame and so on and so on. That doesn't mean its a better skate really. If somebody doesnt have the vapor foot what good will all that tech and spec do? The newest Mission boot will have a composite boot too so they will come closer in overall tech but will still differ in fit. Its comes down to fitting in vapor or supreme. If you fit in vapor...go 1xr, if you fit in supreme...go mission.
