Would you pay to see replacements

So far it looks like the answer is one that the owners want to hear - 63% yes and 37% no..

IMO the question needs to be rephrased though...

How much would you be willing to pay to see replacement players?

- 100% of current prices

- 75% of current prices

- 50% of current prices

- 25% of current prices

- 0% of current prices (i.e. wouldn't pay to see games)

My guess is that the owners wouldn't like the results of the expanded question. There's no way season ticket holders will pay full price for replacement players. $150-$300 per game for seats on the glass? If there are HOF'ers playing, sure. If it's a bunch of minor leaguers - no way..

I wonder, if it is/was an option, how many current NHL players, given the opportunity, would play for a very minimal salary, or nothing. If it were me, I would without a doubt play for me, the fans, and the game itself, especially if I had been getting paid hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars a year every year prior.

Many of them are playing for next to nothing in Europe. I doubt they would want to benefit the NHL owners by playing for them for free.

I'd pay, but my circumstances are a little different. The family owns (my dad) Leafs season tickets. We've had them for over 25 years, if we didn't go in, we'd lose our seniority and be on a LONG waiting list for tickets. So it's really not an option. However, without that, I'd pay a little over $30 a seat canadian to go see a replacement NHL game.

I'd pay 50%. Ticket prices are high enough as it is. Hell, I'd rather watch a good WHL game over replacement players any day. I finally got up to a W game this year, $12 on the glass seats, 5 minutes before game time. Can't beat that.

I'd pay to see replacement players play. However I will not be paying NHL-quality prices. The Vancouver Giants tickets here are usually around $20-$30cdn. Their games are actualy interesting because EVERYONE on the team has to work hard if they want to make it into the NHL. It's either make it or break it at this point really. So I guess the ticket prices should be based around that.

Plus, I've heard Brule is phoenominal.

If they got ECHL guys who aren't under NHL contract to play, there's no way in hell I'd pay to see that. ECHL Hockey is brutal, IMO. Of course, they're better than me but on the other hand I don't think I'm worth paying to see either.

:P

NO! I wouldn't pay to see anything but NHL quality players if I wanted to go to an NHL game. I would rather go see and OHL game than replacement players.

I couldn't agree more.

You should see this kid play. He reminds me of a Thornton/Forsberg like player. He's a true goal scorer but he's not afraid to use his size.

Hell no. AHL hockey isn't all that fun to watch and I can't imagine watching replacement NHLers. The product's bad enough in NYC, can't imagine a lite version of the team

Interesting q: If they went with replacements, do you think Mario plays?

I'm certain he would.

Heck, you might even see Gretzky make a comeback with the Yotes as well.

You know our AHL team would probably have more success then the garbage we put out the last few years, haha.

And no, I don't think Mario would play. In reality, the Penguins team wouldn't change so much (since they ice an AHL team at times). Mario would get bored playing with such "inferiors." He only managed to play 10 games with them last year.

Mario's concern is for the franchise to break even until he can sell it.
