Ottawa isn't even guaranteed a first round pick in the deal, nor did they get a 'top' prospect. San Jose has one of the best top pairs in the league now and the Sens seem to keep falling.

Correct. He seemed to be a lock to go to Vegas, but ends up with their biggest competition for basically a few lower end players and conditional draft pix.

Saw a comparison of Karlsson/Burns/Vlasic to the Ducks D when they had Pronger/Neidermeyer/Beauchemin. Decent side-by-sides. Ducks won the Cup with that tandem.

And this Sharks combination is better. Thornton must be thrilled. This gives him the best chance at a Cup that he ever had or will have.

Looks like they are getting closer to that chance. They have a good combination of guys this season.
