Return to NHL Season? Thread

The key is no travel and keeping everyone contained. MLB will never make it.

It will be interesting to see how the NFL handles their season because you're right: no bubble is a recipe for failure.

This will be interesting as home teams get most if not all the money from the board ads unless it's a national broadcast.

The hotels in Edmonton and Toronto are probably doing well .

Yeah the MLB is doomed. They were so busy arguing about money that they didn’t bother coming up with an actual plan. Doesn’t help that nobody is following protocol and the players aren’t even limited to the hotel and ballpark. Even the umpires were wearing their masks as neck warmers.

Main reason is that the players have been isolated from the rest of the country(ies). To my knowledge, the NBA has experienced the same success. Both leagues are keeping their players away from negligence (whether by the players or the societies they live in).

It's not super surprising, in all reality. They're in significantly better shape as far as their situation than the rest of us, in general. The NHL and NBA bubbles don't have morons who refuse to distance or wear masks that ruin it for everyone.

Howdy,

No games today & tomorrow.

Just watched the player press conference from Edmonton.  Really great to see them standing up together like that.  I can understand why it didn't happen yesterday.  Awfully late notice and hard to get everyone on the same page quickly in the midst of bubble life, game day routines, etc. etc.

I hope the increased awareness does some good.  Its encouraging to see some folks in the NHL sphere talking about how to make the game itself more accessible / affordable / whatever.  Of anything, I think stuff like that is the most likely to happen.  Nothing but a win for lots of people involved in the business side of hockey if the sport grows through more inclusion.

Fantastic news.

The reality is that nothing changes in this world unless rich people start losing money, so hopefully we start to see some real change. Very proud of the players on all of this. The Mets/Marlins did an amazing job tonight as well.
