Is There A Skate Shortage?

I was listening to a podcast and they referenced this tweet by an agent talking about a skate shortage. I haven’t heard about this but I’m not in the equipment supply chain loop. Has anyone else heard about this and is it true? Seems pretty crazy if professional players or equipment managers are shopping around at retail stores for their skates.

Looking at the shelves in my work, I'd be inclined to agree. We're sparingly getting skates. We just received our most ice skates in months this past week, and we maybe got 15 pairs of 3S skates.

Custom lead times are now minimum 130 days (Bauer) due to staffing shortages. It's going to be tough for the beginning of the year I think.

This is actually true. I spoke with a few of the VGK players as they come into the hockey shop all the time with their kids and they confirmed exactly what was reported. Crazy times we live in.

I think there’s a huge shortage in __________. And you can put whatever product you want into that space.

Stick shortages too. Apparently the manufacturers are having trouble getting raw materials.

There was an inline skate shortage back in the summer of 2020. I wonder if that exacerbated the ice skates shortage.
