P86 / ZEGRAS curve

Recommended Posts

Hey gang,

I keep hearing that CCM will be releasing this as their newest curve. Is there any truth to this and if so when should we expect it?

the Kucherov curve from Bauer .......is the same thing ???

Kucherov uses a very slight variation of a basic P28 (which varies at retail from company to company). I’ve read he uses the Fisher variant, perhaps the original P28, but I can’t confirm.

I wish someone would do a podcast with Fisher to talk to him about his gear. His blade is possibly his greatest contribution to the game, but he was also an early tester on CURV boots and who knows what else.

For some of us who are old and set in our ways, as person who both contributed to the proliferation of p28esque curves and ultra-stiff boots, this guy is bordering on super villain status.

I began using the Kucherov  Bauer curve (pro stock Bauer 2NPROXL "Sync wrapped" from Hockey East team) about two yrs ago, my fave & sticking w it.   I was using a P92 prior to that, but I finally prefered the slight shorter blade length + the toe shape of the P28/Kucherov (pulling the puck is so easy, shooting seems easier for myself).    MyBauer states that the Kuch curve has slight less wedge, more upright than the normal P28.   The video of Celebrini describing his curve (Zegras) is what got me over thinking the topic.  P86 I assumed = Kucherov ...... the Zegras can be described as a P28 blade shape but a longer length, like the P92 ??

Forgot about the P86 angle, that makes perfect sense. Kucherov was a P92 guy before switching, as was Fisher. There might be something to that variant (if Kuch is using the Fisher) for those that want a little less wedge. I hope to get my hands on a Kuch stick soon. I’m a big fan of the P28, but a slightly less lofted version would be nice.

How are you sourcing your Kucherov habit now? Are you going with MyBauer for all your sticks? I wish GePROtto would offer the Kucherov.

SLS site ......... just search Kucherov of course.  I've had good luck in the past.   Currently these are numerous G3 build of his Hyperlite listed.

(edit...mine were XL and not SE)

Mine were from a college team, 2NPROXL w full tactile, 77 flex ......from two separate sellers, the same stick code, from 2023 stock.  I thought I did good getting four total, shipping + tax included = $210 per stick

I use the p28 and CCM is my least favorite of the p28s but ccm is currently my go to brand since I like their sticks best. Ccm definitely has a less of a toe kink than say bauer and true 😔

Ha. I noticed that about CCM's P28, and Warrior's seems closer to that than Bauer. (TC4 was its own thing last I checked, they may have changed it.) I like CCM's sticks too, but the slightly more vanilla toe on the CCM and Warrior really appeal to me. Bauer's is a bit too augmented for my taste. Luckily, any P28 I've tried feels so nice compared to most curves that I don't have to look at it much when I'm using it.

I just got a prostock with a p86 Zegras. Its exactly the shape of a p92 with the p28 toe curve at the end, not sure how else to describe it.

I've heard the same about CCM making it a retail curve, I hope they do it.

I think what’s confusing is the discussion of it being the P28 curve with the P92 face. It looks more like it’s what you describe, just a regular P92 curve with a little bump at the toe.
