ironslave 2 Report post Posted June 6 Anyone try these yet? Seems like the pitch is more neutral compared to past holders. Also seems lighter. How does stiffness compare?
A2rhino 79 Report post Posted June 10 Scott Says that this is now a more neutral pitch in the video about the new skate attached.
flip12 729 Report post Posted June 11 I haven't seen it in person, but I'm impressed with the direction their design is going. Both for the holder and the boot. The Shift holders looked way too busy.
A2rhino 79 Report post Posted June 12 It grows on me a bit more each day.
mcne0101 17 Report post Posted June 17 They look promising but where can you buy steel to fit these? I don't even see any on the True website...
A2rhino 79 Report post Posted June 18 (edited) I reached out and they said you can order it directly from them right now. Just need to call or email them. I'm not steel specialist but from the video I posted above this steel design sounds very interesting. Edited June 18 by A2rhino
A2rhino 79 Report post Posted August 7 (edited) Per the team at TRUE In CAD, plus shipping: SpeedShift HP DLC Steel is $199.99/pair SpeedShift Holder is $69.99/piece(not pair) What are the chances of this steel bowing and holding up to a heavier person with the cutouts in them. I remember when Bauer did this and it was a disaster. Edited August 7 by A2rhino

And also the slots on the one90? Also Bauer steel is/was not great particularly back then.
A2rhino 79 Report post Posted August 8 Good to know. I just ordered the new holders and steel. Look forward to taking them for a test drive. Will place a photo when they have been installed.

I actually really like the Vapor 8 and 10 steel, the black perforated steel with the series of triangular cut outs. They went with fewer cutouts but larger cutouts on the XX. I think by the time of the XXX that was pretty much dead. I'm not as experienced with the XX perforated steel, but from what I've heard it was more prone to breakage. The black finish on the Vapors 8 and 10 perforated steel was more than just cosmetic going from posts I've read on here from more knowledgable members (I tried searching for the references but Google's not helping). I currently have three pairs of that original black perf steel. I have some Fly-Ti steel I can compare it to once our rink's compressors get fixed. The problem for me has been the Custom+ holders. They're so old they can only sustain a couple of hours of skating before they crack or shatter. Edited August 15 by flip12
