Question about TOUR inlines

Recommended Posts

So after skating for a short bit on a pair of redmaxs I've come to the conclusion that I want to get some Tours. They don't seem to be too popular but I know some people here use them. I just had a few questions if anyone knows.

1. What size skate should I be looking for if I have a size 10-11 shoe size. 10.5 being the sweet spot.

2. I can go for either the bluemaxs or beemers but would like to avoid the extra money if possible. Besides the bearings and wheels which I will be swapping regardless is there any differences besides the price? (chassis, comfort, stiffness)

Thanks!

I can't tell you much about the sizing. But one of the main differences between the bluemax and beemer is the bluemax is stiffer.

I'm not sure if this is true or not, but knowing tour it wouldn't surprise me (their one model below top of the line skate has pretty much always been better than the top) but Mr Egan has said it actuallty costs the company more to make the bluemax than the beemer.

Being more expensive to make does not necessarily = "better", but yes I have heard that the actual costs of making the Blue Max boot are greater than those for the Beemer boot.

Both use the same chassis, but the wheels are a bit better on the Beemer..Dynasties versus Milleniums...IMO. I think they both use the same bearings...Bevo Abec 7's I believe.

The difference in the feel is partially the stiffness of the composite material..but it's not hugely stiffer btw....and partially the lacing scheme...in the larger sizes the Blue Max has one more eyelet, so you can change the tightness a bit more in specific areas...

My son wears his skates very loose anyway and likes a very flexible boot, so he prefers the Beemer, but many others we know who have had a chance to try both, prefer the blue Max...it's all just in what you like as a feel. Both boots seemed equally comfortable right out of the box, but my son has an easy foot to fit...

The reason I think they decided on the Beemer as their "top of the line" skate, was because they were going back to their old last with this new model series, and they wanted a boot whose appearance was more reminiscent of the older 962/902 series...to help the public make that identification with the old style fit, which was more popular than the "G" series.

I just bought a size 9 1/2 in the bluemax. I wear a size 10 1/2 in adidas. I tried on the beemers and the bluemax. I got the bluemax becuase it felt to me like they had more ankle support. Bottom line just get what fits your foot best. To me the bluemax also felt the most like the old 962's, which i loved.

What sucks is I don't have a shop near me that carry the Tours. I tried the redmax and just liked the feel of the chassis and boot. The bluemax seem to go for around 329.00 +10-12 bucks for ship give or take. I can get a pair of beemers through ebay for 319.00 +13 for ship so it pretty much evens out. So do you think besides the stiffness, the boot differences are just more cosmetic? I don't find the beemers that good looking but that tends to change when I see them up close. Thanks

With internet sizing I find its best to go skate vs skate rather than shoe vs skate, thats if its possible. If not judge by your dress or work shoe rather than "sneaker", but its a semi-shot in the dark regardless.

For the Tours...1 to 1.5 sizes below shoe size is pretty common. Son wears 10's in some shoes, 10.5 in others...size 9 in Tours fit him perfectly.

I wear the Beemers and absolutley love them. The only skates i've every worn that have been more comfortable, were my Nike Hi-Ho's, but they just didin't have the durability i needed.

I think the Bluemax and beemer are both great, depending on your skating style. If you like a stiffer skate with more support and a little less forward lean (because of flexability) then the Bluemax is your skate. If you like a slightly lighter, more flexible skate that puts the pressure on your ankles to support you, but gives a fuller range of motion, than go with the Beemer. I can second the sizing as well. Normally wear a size 11.5 to 12 shoe. 12's are usually more comfortable. I wear a Size 10 Beemer, and althought my big toes are a tiny bit cramped, i much prefer to wear a tight fitting skate, but i could just as easily have gone with a 10.5. I think 1.5 sizies from your shoes size is a pretty good bet.

Does anyone know how wide the tour skates are (compared to a CCM / Nike)? It looks like they only come in D widths.

Would the Redmax / Silvermax be sufficient for me (200lb), I skate 1-2 nites a week?

This thread has sparked my interest in tour skates...I would never have considered them before.

I talked to someone about these the other day and he said they come in Regular and Narrow. He said the Narrow are narrow (obviously), but about the same as a regular for other brands. There regulars are "very wide".

Sqhockey,

I would be a little weary of the Redmax line if i were you. I have a friend who is right about 195lbs, and he said the redmax just didn't have enough support to them. Now granted, he likes stiffer skates than i do, but he just felt that the boot was overall too soft for his weight. He swapped them out for a pair of Bluemax' and loves them. Says he wouldn't trade them for the world.

I weigh 215 and use the Beemers and love'em.

I wanted some advice. I have heard lots of good things about the Beemers and want to get a pair. I currently have D1c 04 model in 10EE

What beemer skate is closest to that size since I cant try them on.

Because Missions generally fit about the same as shoe size, I would suggest a size 8.5 or size 9 Tour depending on how loose or tight you like the fit of your skates.

I have been using redmaxs since september . I weigh about 185 and have liked them very much so far. I have noticed that lately, the boots are beginning to feel less "form fitting" than before. Maybe they are getting mushy on me. I have "chunked out" two of the dynasty wheels so far.

I wear a size 10 to 10 1/2 shoe. I would DEFINITELY not get larger than size 9 if you are a ten shoe. I got some G90s on super sale last year and made this mistake. Also, the g90 boot was the most UNCOMFORTABLE boot I have ever worn.

i've got some older tour inlines and I wear a 10.5 puma shoe and I'm an 8 (maybe 8.5) in my tours, and they are the most comfortable skates I have worn to date. Maybe I wear my street shoes big or I like a tighter skate I don't know.

edit just checked my skates last night I've got tr551's and they are a size 8 and honestly they are the best feeling boot I've ever had.
