Just got the SyNergy SL

The whole anti-Easton thing on CB started because of all of the guys who were banned. Fortunately, we've grown up since then. I thought of him as a jackass when I first met him, but I still speak to Ryan almost daily and I consider him a good friend outside of the industry.

...or the Manufacturer Sponsors who frequent the boards.

Wow...the whole industry sponsors us then because we have a relationship with all of them! You should check out my email box...I even have folders for all of them and email filters that sorts them, it's so neat!

Every other post on Corebeam by the Mods was bashing Easton, orange stick jokes, we hate Easton Inno rules, blah blah blah, ect . . . for two plus years. Now on this board Ryan joins, there's a few toys for Stealth drives, and Easton comes out with a new line-up and all the Mods are on the Easton band wagon and everyone follows.

It's just funny that when I defended Easton two+ years ago there were four mods and 100 corebeamers hitting me over the head, and maybe a dozen guys who agreed with me. Now I say something negative about the Marketing Department and you guys are doing a 180 and defending Easton, and of course all the guys that were bashing Easton are now loving them. I won't say my theory as to why this is so, but I just find it very funny. Hence the "tool" remark.

I've just gone back to the old adage, "if you don't have anything nice to say..." I don't like the product and I don't believe in it, how much more can one person say and how many times can it be said?

Modo - The Easton Marketing department does an incredible job doing what it's supposed to do. Creating hype and brand recognition. What the problem is there ability to manipulate those who are uninformed. I've told you my views on the reason people buy equipment, at least from this board, and I don't believe people are buying them because they will produce more goals.

Bottom line: The Marketing Department provides Easton with everything a company could hope for, just because they aren't serving the good of the consumer, doesn't mean they aren't doing their jobs.

People hated the '03 Synergy because it was terrible, it broke upon sight. The SL, and Stealths, with the exception of Chadd's who is a MOD and voiced his displeasure, have had decent reviews because they are giving what the consumer expects. Durability and Performance. Members and Mods didn't bash Easton because without reason, they bashed Easton because their products weren't upto par. Therer were some with hostility from the EMB seperation, but that was sorted out fairly quickly.

One of the members actually started a posted about how he was not impressed with his Stealth, I recently traded mine in for an M-2 Pro Z-Carb combo.

It's not blind faith, it's consumers deciding whether the products meet your needs. I think you bring up some good points Modo, it's just you assume they are the norm and you assume your thoughts are the only ones. You were looking at marketing from a More goals perspective = untrue --> Bad marketers. When its actually great marketing, just build on naive consumers, which the board is actually trying to guide.

Or at least thats how I view things.

Easton makes a phenomenal stick, but their marketing team leaves A LOT to be desired.

I don't know what you're talking about man. Their marketing department is top notch. The brand name recognition of the synergy is immense. Kids automatically refer to a synergy when looking at OPS's even if they haven't looked/played with any other OPS's. They may be the Microsoft of the stick market but they know their stuff.

11/10 rating . . . Embarrisingly retared IMO. And according to Easton Marketing the Stealth stick will get you more goals: More Speed + More Control= More Goals. Some people are so naive.

If you are a sheep than Eastons Marketing Team's cliche's and farcical advertising will surely work on you. Hocus . . . Pocus.

Did you go to school at all? What the hell do you think advertising is? It's understanding your market and taking advantage of it. There are different types of marketing but Easton understands their market well and uses these phrases to set themselves apart from the other companies. The hockey equipment market is quite 'hype' driven so having a very technical campaign won't attract a lot of customers. Considering that the majority of the market isn't as informed as the people on here, what do you think will attract them to a product? Hell, a large part of the market are kids that want the latest and coolest stick. What's going to attract them to a hockey stick? Saying that it's new, is made out of graphite, and has a blade or saying that it's going to score them more goals, it's Easton (the leading stick manufacturers) latest and greatest stick they've ever produced, and Joe Sakic and Jerome Iginla have been using the Synergy exclusively for the past 5 years. They plaster their ads with big pictures of superstars and phrases because it works. They're in the business to make money and that's what they're doing. It may be 'unethical' to advertise that a stick will automatically make you score more goals but who said adversing/marketing was supposed to be ethical? They're not a non-profit company.

Did I go to school? I was a registered representative of the New York Stock Exchange and now I work for a global distributor of integrated circuits and semiconductors. On a daily basis I sell to Mexico, Canada and all 50 states. I import product from and speak to vendors in England, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong and China on a daily basis.

And how about you? What's your story . . . ?

That is an awesome point of view that makes me look at the whole thing entirely different. B)

Got hooked up with an LH SL grip (Gaborik curve) over the weekend for a rather nice price. It's still in plastic since I'm thinking about reselling it (75% of the time, I'm usually goalie, and I already have a Synergy, an M-1, and 2 Z-Bubbles I don't use enough). The Gaborik is definitely a little more spicy than I'm used to.

But every time I pick up the SL, I can almost hear it say "Don't sell me."

Mine's chipping like mad but its irrelevant since the stick is a complete dart thrower. If you thought the XN10 had a hot blade you're in for a pleasant surprise.

Sell one or two of the others and keep the SL.

I probably couldn't get all that much for a used Z-Bubble. I suppose the allure is making $100 profit if I sold the SL right now. It feels so damn nice in my hands though.

The Devil on my shoulder knows that I'd just use that $100 profit towards something else equally evil, so I might as well just keep the stick.

Kinda off topic but since eastons making the sl and st and all that will regular synergies go through a mass mark down. Cause I'd go on a synergy spree.
